My turn signal won't self cancel. Also my emergency flashers won't turn on. I'm assuming the problems are one and the same. Anyone know what I might need to replace and how tough a job it will be before i take my stearing wheel apart.

Many Thanks in Advance!!!:) :) :)

The noncancelling part sounds like an arm is broken off the switch assy. I'll dig around and see if I have a old switch laying around my office (garage) tomorrow. If I do I'll post a pic so you can see what I am talking about.

I think the 4 ways problem is the broken part blocking the 4 way switch from moving down to lock in the on position.

If you have a nontilt steering column it isn't to bad. The tilt wheels I am not sure. I haven't taken one apart this new. I'll look in the manual tomorrow morning.

To repair it you will need a new switch. Hang on for sticker shock here. They are not cheap. Last one I bought was for a chevy. It came to $75. Do not expect Dodge to be cheaper.

The turn signal switch on our trucks is called a multifunction switch in the manual. You do not need to remove the steering wheel to service it.

Unhook the batter neg terminal.

Remove the tilt lever.

Remove the upper and lower steering column covers

Remove the torx screws from the mountings on the multifunction

switch.

Gently pull the switch away from the column and unhook the wiring connector.

This is a sealed switch from the looks of things I am not sure of how they cancel the turn signal when it is on. Look around the back side of this switch for a mechanical lever of something.

The 4 ways are built in also.

Thanks I got it apart today. Some compressed air and contact cleaner got the four ways going but the plastic turn signal parts seem worn and gritty. The unit is riveted together so didn't take it apart to see inside. Will see how much the unit costs. From the looks of it can't be cheap:( :( Just as a side note you have to drill a hole in your torx driver as the screws that hold the switch on have a tit in the middle of the torx slot. guess they only want the dealer to replace the switch.

THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!

I bought a turn signal switch for my 85 D100 non-tilt shaft, from Autozone which i found to be the cheapest for $25. It started out my turns wouldnt self cancel. Then they wouldnt work. Turn lever just hanged loose. Bought the new switch, took the horn cover off the steering wheel, and as I wiggled the switch lever, I could see a loose screw moving that held the lever tight. Tightened this screw and cool, turns work, and cancel. Didnt have to take wheel off. 4ways still didnt work but I didnt care about them. Whether this is the same on yours or can help, its neat to take something apart and possibly find an easier fix or solve the problem without having to buy anything. I gave the switch to brother in law for his 87 D100.
