Hi All

Thanks to all for the great insight from all the TDR members!!!!

Swapping my VP44 tonight. My orginal pump has an . 036 stamped on the keyway the new one has . 044 on it.

Will this new pump work OK ??? I assume that it has to do with the size of the keyway or pump input shaft size.

. 008 a is substantial difference in tolerance.

Am I hosed?? Do I need to send this pump back and get one with an . 036 keyway ??

I appreiceiate any input from you TDR experts out there.

I'd really like to get my truck on the road again, but not if it gonna FORD on me.

Thanks in Advance,

Cheers,

Matt

The number on the key represents the "timing" offset of the pump. I have seen others ask this same question. use the key that comes with the pump.

hey brother--

how hard was your vp44 install? what tools did you need? how much time did it take. TIA hope you got up and running alright. Oo.

I put 2 vp44's in last saturday. It is really easy. Figure about 4 hours if you take your time. The only special tool needed is a gear puller. You can use just any gear puller but I use a 12v timing kit gear puller. It works really good.

matt,

the keyway is determined by the bobby bosch software upon completion of injection pump mapping (programming the black box on top of the injection pump) and confirmation of program parrameters, the final step is timing to engine which the software and test stand perform as the final function.
