Here is the email chain from JL Audio... does anyone see a problem with what he is saying (start at the bottom)? Sounds like this may be a solution.
I think this guy probably cringes each time he sees an email from me...

Jason,
I am not familiar with the finer points on the RB1 or the PIE device. It appears that PIE device allows the iPod to interface with the factory head unit via the connection normally used for the Sirius satellite signal.
CleanSweep would not have any impact at all on the normal functions of the factory radio. It connects AFTER the controls and does not connect directly to the head unit. You will be able to plug the Sirius signal as normal into the head unit... and the iPod would then connect to the CleanSweep auxiliary input.
I do not think it is possible to connect two sources directly to your factory head unit.

Did you also see how the Sirius would install to factory unit? I am wanting both sirius and ipod to be plugged into the RB1.
Can I run both?

The PIE device allows you to use an input to the factory system to both receive audio and offer controls for the iPod. As noted, it does not always allow full functionality of other features.
CleanSweep does not allow you to control your iPod from your factory radio. Here is a rough idea of how CleanSweep installs:
In a standard factory audio system, here is a “signal path”:
Head unit (controls) - amplifier – speakers.
CleanSweep would install like this:
Head unit (controls) - amplifier – CleanSweep – new amplifier – new speakers.
In addition, the CleanSweep accepts an auxiliary input (like an iPod). As you can see, the CleanSweep comes AFTER the controls. You would control your iPod from your iPod with the exception of volume. CleanSweep provides a new volume control and a switch to go between your iPod and your factory head unit.

Hi Steve! Please use the link above if you would like to check out more on the factory head unit. I am really trying to make sure that I can run both the IPOD and Sirius direct through the head unit using Clean Sweep.
I was told that this would work http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piechry02pcpod.html …bought it and found out later it would not allow both the Sirius and ipod to be directly connected since “The Pie interface will work with the RB1 and iPod but not with Sirius. Unfortunately, it's either one or the other as each uses the 10 pin port on the back of the head unit. ”
Jason,
CleanSweep receives input signal from the speaker outputs of your factory system. There should be no issues at all with the interfacing. You will take the signal from the factory amplifier and remove it from the factory speakers. Then, take that signal and send it into the CleanSweep.

Jason,
CleanSweep will allow the use of your iPod through an auxiliary input. The
signal from the factory head unit, or from your iPod, is then sent to
aftermarket amplifiers and speakers (sold separately). There is no need for
an FM modulator... and CleanSweep will "clean up" the factory signal to sound
proper with aftermarket equipment.
