The instruction say the selenoid might have a spring or ball. Can it have both? I have removed my old selenoid and it has a spring on the plunger but it must need a ball on the end of the spring to work. It is hard to see up in the plunger cavity but I want to make sure I do it right. Did everyone just have a spring? THanks for the help guys. .

I just did my starter a couple weeks ago and had NO ball, just a spring too. Put it back together and all is well. I think you're OK.

I did some more research on the Larry B site I think the ball is in there it just does not come out readily. I am going out to try to get it out so I can grease it. My contacts do not look good and I am only at 59k on my truck. A lot of starts I guess. .

This is off-topic but I would like your help/feedback. What kinds of symptoms were you guys having? I have had no trouble with my truck starting in the past but went out and it sounds like it is just grinding when I try to start it. The engine is definitely not turning over. Could this be a contact issue or is this more likely a flywheel or starter issue?

Thanks!

Jeff
