I'm currently having warranty issues with my dad's 03 Ram with 62,000 miles with an in service date of 12/02. I took the truck in for a oil leak on the front timing cover which the dealer fixed. I thought that the work would be covered under the Cummins engine warranty and not the Powertrain warranty. After arguing with the service advisor to no avail I paid the $100. 00 deductible and called daimlerchrysler customer service at which time I was told it should of been covered under the Cummins engine warranty with no deductible because my truck has been in use for less than 5 years. I was told to submit my receipt for reimbursement. I just received a call from DailmyerChrysler customer service and they told me I'm not going to get the $100. 00 deductible back because it was valid and applicable under the powertrain warranty. The representative told me the cummins warranty only applies to internal lubrication. I told her it explicitly states timing cover seals in the engine warranty.

Does anyone know what I can tell them or who I can contact to get this resolved??

Thanks,

Joe

Did you pay by credit card? If you did, you can contest payment via the CC institution- they will withhold payment to the dealer until all is resolved.

They will get your money anyway they can. If you have a current warranty which covers the same item they will always say the one with the deductible fixed it. When the powertrain warranty goes away... 70K they will not charge the deductible.

I just got screwed on my wifes Expedition. The AC would freeze up like the 03 Cummins trucks. Ford has a TSB which fixes the issue and we have an extended warranty to 100K through an outside company. Ford would not do the TSB for free because the vehicle had 52K on it... past the 36K. The warranty company would not pay either since they knew about the TSB which to them blames Ford on knowing the failure exists. I argued to no avail and paid the 255. 00. AC works great now.

I just ran the labor operation 09102017 on my old 03 vin and it came back covered under 5/100 engine warranty. Have your dealer do the same and show you what it says. It also however says there is $100 deduct on engine warranty. Look at the print out and it will clarify everything.

Absolutely! I expected it. I brought the truck in last year for a leaky injection pump before any mods were even on the truck. I found the leak while installing the TST, the crank and cam sensors were wet with diesel. :-laf I brought in then and they said "we can't find anything wrong". Well, recently it got bad enough to plainly see, so I brought it back, and now you know the rest of the story. It's kind of liberating actually. :-laf

PS, I tried, I took the TST and Smarty out. :-laf

Well guys took your advice and went in and talked with the dealer and chrysler customer service some more. Just got a call from chrysler customer service saying they were sorry for the inconveince and that the dealer had made a mistake. They will sending me my $100 dollar refund on Monday!! :D
