What is it. I discovered it between the fuel filter and head. My '93 doesn't have one(I don't think). Had plug attached also. Water in fuel? I thought that was at the bottom of the filter? The "vanes" inside must do something. Almost looks like it could restrict the flow of fuel.

Thanks as usual.

Andrew

P. S. Sorry guys. It is the motor from my 1991 that I used on my RC conversion. Non IC, auto, 4x4.

What is it out of  It looks like either some sort of sensor or heater that spins fluid by redirection with the stationary vanes. Interesting.

Andrew,

That's the fuel heater assembly and the threaded thing is the adapter for the fuel filter itself. My 89 looks identical to this one.

I had to remove it to replace a leaking quad ring on top of the heater assy. and the adapter has a slot on the bottom for a flat bladed tool to loosen/tighten it to the block.

Hey yo 'Spoon :D

Yup, that's the heater element. T. J. 's rig was leaking here and his was aparantly warped, so we robbed mine and stuck it on his, and no more leaks. They're still available from the dealer, I think like $50. Not sure, but I think that's how much they are. The o-rings are available too.

I have the O ring part number... . sorry. Quad ring. The dealership has them. However, some dealerships will ONLY sell the entire package! You'll only need one ;) I got three from a Dodge dealer south of here and had then UPS me the three. I wasn't going to drive that far for three quad rings.

Andrew,

The adapter has a slot on one end for tightening. I changed filters for 8 years thinking that the heater was supposed to drop down when you took the filter off. Professor Greenleaf had to ejumakate me that the heater could be tightened with a large blade. Thereby holding it in place when I did the filter change.

Once again, THANKS, guys! I truly appreciate it. Makes sense.

"Max" Thanks! You are always welcome to come by when you are up here visiting. I'm going to try to fire it up tonight, if it doesn't get too late.

G. L. Thanks! $2. 10 (inc tax for the gasket) PN 4429695. What a deal!

Phil and TBP. Wasn't expecting this, but just made a tool to tighten the adapter into the head so it doesn't happen again right away. I also believe this area was leaking, so hopefully no more.

Thanks again!!!

Andrew
