I have a 04 with 67,000 miles. It has a TST box and a upgraded frame mounted fuel pump. Box is set at hp 2 and torque 2. I change oil at 5000 miles and fuel at 10000. Both front and rear diff fluid have been changed. transmission and transfer case fluid changed.

With this said... . I have had the crank case position sensor code twice in the two years I have owned the truck. I pull a pontoon boat and small 1 axle 2 ton trailer. What can I do to limit the issues others have had with these trucks... example injectors cracking, motor issues. It seems in my area no garages are willing to touch the truck with a cummins. Any suggestions on how to make the truck last would be appreciated and welcomed. Side note I can work on some of the truck but am not familiar with the diesel engine.

The crank shaft pos code is common with the TST, it does not hurt anything and usually goes away after a few key cycles. As far as cracking injector bodies and tips, keep pressure boxes at a minimum, water and debris are far more harmful, so if you can obtain a 2 micron filtration system, that would help. At least pickup a new 7 micron filter that replaces the stock 10 micron filter.

Last, but not least, a good set of gauges so you can monitor what's happening.

well said. pressure will destroy injector bodies. i know this from experience and their not cheap. other than that you should get many problem free miles outa her. the more you bomb, the more you pay. thats the guaranteed rule of thumb :)

Thank you to all. The TST box was installed by the place I purchased the truck from. They were very well known for Diesel Trucks, but what rail pressure should the box be set at, how do I check it! They showed me how to change HP and Torque settings but nothing else.

The TST box I have monitors EGT, boost. What else should I be monitoring?

I am also using 7 micron fuel filter from Geno's. I never go above a 3/3 setting on the box. Does this help limit pressure?

The TST box does not do pressure. It does timing and duration. I bought mine specifically because it does not modify rail pressure. Not going over 3/3 is a safe thing to do. It will save your turbo and engine in the long run. I rarely turn mine up over 1/1 and don't have any issues with boost or EGT temps unless I'm not paying close enough attention.

Just an FYI, I have never had any codes with the TST and it has performed flawlessly for a little over 80K miles now.

mberry... what mpg are you getting? I am about 17 city 20 highway empty.

I wonder if I have a problem that the shop is contributing to the box but really is not

That isn't true anymore. The newer Power Max CR does pressure too with the R49 or AGR49 remotes.

I will check the box I have. Is the R49 or AGR49 ones newer. I got my TST about 2 years ago.

So assuming the pressure remains low or set, what else can I do to prevent damage or costly replacements.

Checked the box last night... . On it says " Powermax CR" thats all. I have a remote in the cab that gives me Exhaust temp, boost, power settings. It can also remote cool down. So with this being said can the rail pressure be set with this?

If the box has a serial number less than 5000, then, no. You can also call TST and ask them. IIRC, they keep a database of the configuration of each box.

So if I can control the rail pressure and usually only run level 3/3 and have no other adders. What should the pressure be?

I have the TST set at 1/1 now. So from what everyone is saying . The box hurts the truck with higher rail pressure. So I can either deal with the box and figure on having repairs or remove the box and go back to stock for a longer run.

Well after 3 weeks of waiting I finally heard back from TST. My box does actually control rail preasure over a 5000 S/N can do it. Emailed back to see if they have instructions on how or what they recomend settings are... Still no reply! I guess they have my money and could care less of helping someone out...

So I return to the TDR... . Can any one assist? I had bought the truck with box in it. The dealer put it in prior to me buying and I have no manual

Ok heres a question from the TST install Directions. How do I change the program to economy... they show how to check to see whats selected but not how to change it. Also If I go to economy and then go back to 1(standard) do I need to reset anything for the standard setting?

If I remember correctly, (it's been a while since I played with mine), just press the gray button. It should work the same as the rest of the programs, just press the arrow keys to change settings. Usually, I just start pushing buttons on it. It's been a while since I looked at the directions. :D If you go from economy to standard, you will need to set it on whatever settings you want. It doesn't store them, if that's what you're asking.
