Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Help with 6spd swap !!!

Help! I am converting my 01 auto 4x4 to a 6spd, I pulled the transfer case out last night, It doesn't have the speedometer senser hole machined out in the tailshaft housing. I have been told the 6spd has no place for the senser. The senser was in the auto trans. Can I remove the tailshaft and open the hole up. (drill/die grinder), or buy a new tailshaft. Can I get it anywhere cheeper than the dealer. Ps the tcase is the hd model. Thanks Jason

The speedometer sensor is located in the rearend, what you are seeing is the speed sensor for the cruise control.

Thanks for the info,so does the cruise sensor go in the tcase tail housing?

No, no wires run into the t-case. You will lose the Cruise control and I believe the anti-locks. The only way to get these back are to change PCM and maybe the harness. I haven't changed mine out yet, but I would like to get my cruise back!

Be sure you also check your input shaft on the T-case. I just had to change mine.

Still haven't finished. Had to side-line the project to a family emergency.

Yes i do i ordered the chain and bearing/seal kit to change while its apart.
