I am trying to get together a Tulsa Dyno Day. Another TDR member talked to the dyno operators helper and he said he had an Optical Sensor. Well I spoke with the dyno operator and he doesn't. So is that the ONLY way to get an RPM reading on a Cummins?? He said he can pick up on ANY tach signal. Where would one get a tach signal on a 24V truck and a 12V truck?? He was going to Call DynoJet on friday. I have not got to speak with him since thursday night.

Easy Doc... this applies to BOTH the 12 and 24V trucks. I guess I could post in both forums but that would be a waste of server space ;)

TIA

I think the 24 valves have a wire to clamp to the normal sensor that dynojet gives you. As far as the 12 valves the guy will have to purchase a seperate pick-up from dynojet.

Lets hope he gets it all working... . i have a 12 valve.

RPM Trigger

I'm not aware of a wire to hook to. I believe the best way to get the RPM data is with the optical pickup and a piece of special tape on the harmonic balancer. It's hard to keep the pickup trained on the balancer as the truck bounces around.

Sometimes you can get the inductive pick up to work on the injector lines, but it's not very reliable.

Tach

Do the 12v trucks have a mechanical tach?? If not I wonder what wire would run it. Like I said he said he could pick up ANY tach signal. We have to go by and try and see if a dually will fit. We coudl also poke around on some wires. Thanks for the Replies!
