Hi Guys
Been gone a while.
Trucks been parked for over a year but I have to get it back on the road and its giving me fits.
I put in a new battery and it fired off fine. I took it to Loveland Colorado emissions place for a dyno run and the guy started to roll it and shut it back down and told me no charge but get it the hell out of here till I fix it.
It was smoking up a storm.
I ran the fuel out of it and put in fresh, changed the air cleaner and fuel filter. Put in a bottle of FI cleaner.
I backed off my fuel pump screw almost a 1/4 turn because the RPM was up around 900. I don't think that diaphram adjustment works anymore. I turned it a lot and it still smokes a little bit but goes away when you mash it.
My idle went back down to 600-650 but even with an empty truck in fourth gear I can still get 18 pounds of boost. I thought backing off the fuel screw that much I would only get around 14 or 15 even with the few mods I have.
Then my regulater goes bad. I bought the last one from NAPA for like 40 somthing $ and thought they said lifetime warranty but when I took it in for replacement today they said only 12 months. New one would be $38. Poop on that I got one at Autozone for $10. 99 These trucks seem to eat regulators if you leave them in the stock location. Someday I might get around to moving it inside the truck.
Now the Antilock light is on and the Top break bar light is lit up.
Does anyone know if I can still get my legal emissions with those brake warning lights glowing brightly
What else can I do to make sure it passes emissions and what makes those anti lock brake lights and stuff? I checked the connections but that didn't help.
Was thinking of slapping some new pads and shoes on her too.
After 10 years owning this pig the honeymoon is over. It is like driving a cement truck in traffic. Thats why I parked it. She is good for one thing and thats to pull my RV trailer. But now I need to put it in service for back and forth to work and I need it fast.
Any and all suggestions appreciated
Thanks
Greg
