I wanted to Install 6x9's in the doors, will these fit? Does anyone have 6x9's there, if so which ones? Does anyone know the Mounting depth.

Thanks

Darren

Cooker do you know which Pioneer speakers these were? I wanted to install some Pioneer's and was told they will not fit because the magnet is too big. By Any chance do you know what the Mounting depth was for your speakers?

Thanks

Darren

I don't know the exact mounting depth of the ones I have, but I do know that Crutchfield is wrong. You can fit a deeper speaker in the opening than what they list. If you are not referring to Crutchfield, the company you are dealing with is probably using the same info that Crutchfield is using.

I mounted some 6x9 Pioneers also in my front doors. I believe they were TX6969's, 4 way's (I'll have to check my records at home, I'm at work now). The trick was to take the Pioneer speaker cover, pop out the screen and use the plastic frame as a spacer between the speaker and the inner door panel. This lets the magnet clear the window and barely bulges the plastic door panel. Be prepared for a shock when you go to replace the plastic rivets that hold your door panel on. Local stealer charged me $1. 10 ea!

One more thing, if you have the Infinity system your stock front speakers have amps built in to them and you have to do some creative wiring to get any aftermarket speakers to work. Crutchfield can tell you exactly what to do, otherwise I believe I kept the instructions and could probably type them up for you.

6 1/2" round. Crutchfield has a great chart in their mag showing fit/dimensions and they have plug in wiring adapters for free when you buy speakers from them.

I have a 98 extended cab, rear speakers are a 5-1/4. The MB Quart speakers I installed were too deep for there, it is really shallow. I cut an adapter out of some 3/8 abs sheet. Front speakers are 6-1/2 seperates in my truck via a 6x9 to 6-1/2 round ABS adapter I cut up. It also spaced the speaker forward engough to clear the magnet.

I'm doing the same upgrade

The fit chart at the Infinity web site lists a 6X9 as fitting up front. I've got a set coming, along with a set of 6 1/2's for the Quad doors. If you've got the door panel off, you should consider putting some sound deadening material on the door now. Everyone who's added the stuf says it's made a difference.

Thanks Al

Good Advice, which 6x9's did you go with?

Darren

Darren, I went with the 693. 5i 3 way 6x9 and the 63. 5i for the quad door. I've got 2 sheets of thin matting for the doors and getting some 1/4 thick stuff for the floorpan. If you want to wait I've got a digi camera and I'll send pics so you'll know what they'll look/fit like. The stuff hasn't arrived yet but the doorpanels are off just waiting.

i will never own another 6x9. it is an inefficient cone shape. if you have not already purchased your 6x9s you might consider some 6 1/2 in seperates. mounting depth isnt hard to fix if your too deep just make a plate of abs wood. running the wiring for a system took some time with all the sound deadening for the diesel and special wiring from the factory but patience prevailed. a very good investment is some dynamat dont be cheap now and great sound is the payoff. i also did some spray in for the inside of the doors to keep sound resonance to a minimum. a very cheap and great fix is styrofoam baffles for the speakers. it fools the speakers into believing that they are in a box for a dollar or two whereas a good indoor box install can run up to 500 dollars for each pair of speakers. im considering having custom door panels built. by the way my alternater eats up two or three mpg with a 160 amp load you believe that crap.
