Nothing happens, if I remember right, you have to unplug the WIF and heater. I just left my hanging, but I would like to cover them. Just haven't taken care of it yet. It wont de-rate, throw codes or turn on warning lights if you leave it unplugged though.
Have fun getting the old assembly out. I took me forever to remove that thing. I think I pulled it out between the frame and wheel liner up front. It used a lot of cuss words and persuasion though.
It might work easer to take the time and remove the intake horn and pipe. That will give you more access during the install too. Make sure you disconnect all the wires and fuel lines from the old unit before you start jerking that thing around. I forgot one fuel line and twisted it pretty good.
