I have an 03 3500 truck with factory tow package. I need to know the fuse numer for the hot wire to the 7 pin plug (the one in the 1:00 postion) on 04 and up it is number 19 but not on the 03. dealer said check every fuse. but someone must know the answer. Thanks

Looks like it is fuse #1 which is a 40AMP. This also feeds power to the electronic brake connector under the dash.

The shop manual shows two connectors a 14 pin connector on driverside underside near frame and a 10 pin connector at the back near the hitch that this feeds thru.

I would start at the back and work toward the front to check for the problem. The power is on pin 4, white/red wire on 10 pin connector. The power is on pin 3, red/orange coming in to the 14 pin connector and pin 3, white/red on mating connector to the back of the truck.

check the fuses ... easy way

With the great number of fuses, sometimes there are several inline for the same thing and it CAN indeed be a hassle to find a blown fuse.

What I do is take a multimeter, set to check continuity, and just stick one probe down on each of the two exposed sides of the fuse that you see right on top. A needle swing is easier to see than a digital in this check unless you have a digital one that will beep when you have continuity. Takes about 3 minutes to check all of them.
