Well I finished up the turbos around 9 last night. With clean up and the tieing up all the loose ends I was done at 1am. It took about 20 of my man hours and I guess another 15-18 from friends to complete. I bet I could do it again in half the time. It was a fustrating install bcause every time I took 2 steps forward I had to go one step back. I swear I installed every part at least 2 times. If anyone else does this put the 120* brass fitting on the big turbo before you put it in the truck and have it face toward the block. That fitting alone took over 30 minutes to tighten. I had to use a crows foot wrench hooked to a swivel extension on my flex head socket wrench to get it tight. I think I have a small oil drain leak on the top turbo, but other then that it seems fine. The kit is really a slick set up and I am pleased with the power so far. I only have a TST for a programer and it dones't have the twins program yet. Every once and a while I get a stumble at idle. When I ran it at 7/7 the turbos surged alll the way through the rpm range. I am running it on 5/5 and it surges a little, but you can control it. I have a feeling the fueling curve is way out of wack for the air. The truck is much more drivable then before. The 100 hp injectors were hard to keep smooth with out the air and they smoked from idle to 3200 rpm. Now it only smokes when I get on the go peddle :). I now have to send out the TST and then I am going to the dyno. Then I might still have to get the Smarty. Right now if I had to guess with the seat of the pants test I bet I got an extra 100hp, but I bet I can get another 100hp with tuning. I post up when I get to the dyno with some actual numbers.

BTW, flogging it I only got the EGT's to 1054 and the boost to 40 PSI. Does any one know if I need to adjust the waste gates or if 40 is the limit of the sensor because it reads through the TST and factory sensor????

I also put on the in-line PAC brake and if you have a NV5600 it fits real nice were the head pipe from II ends.

Hopefully some of this info helps the next guy. Unfortunately I did not take many pics because I had to get it done.

Thanks,

Aaron

I haven't adjusted my wastegates since I got my turbo's 40 psi is the max the tst will read b/c it reads throught the map sensor. I'll bet with the tst on 7/7 or even 5/5 you are at 50 psi easy. Even on 4/3 my analog boost gage reads 50.

Just make sure that you don't have the tst set to de-fuel at a certain boost psi. In fact with your mods in your sig, you can probably just turn off the tst boost backdown.

You do need some fuel to work these turbo's With your injectors and tst and possibly a smarty, you should have enough.

I don't think my TST has any kind of boost defueling. I got mine in '04 before all of the fancy programing. I'll have to contact them tomorrow and see about an upgrade. I guess I might need an analog boost gauge too. At least I will have something to fill the 3rd space on my pod :).

You're probably running alot higher boost than 40 psi.

I installed my SPS 66 turbo, and thought boost was limited to 40 psi because of the TST.

However, after installing gauges, I realized I had been pegging 60 psi!!! For some reason, the TST will only read 39 - 40 as a max, and can't defuel fast enough when a big turbo(s) lights.

From what I understand the factory sensor that the TST plugs into is only capable of reading up to 40 psi that's why their gauge never reads any higher. I didn't get a chance to call them today so I am not sure if my box de-fuels.

Do you have your paperwork that came with your box Aaron? I have mine. I got mine back in 2004. It does defuel on egt and it seems to have boost settings. I know you have to "save" you settings by holding down two buttons at once I believe.

I can show you my paperwork if you need it.

I called tst and they said there is no boost defueling on mine just egt defueling. They are sending me the bypass injector and for $125 they are upgrading it to the most recent programing. I will have to get an regular gauge to read boost over 40psi because of the limit of the factory sensor.
