Several times now, twice today, my remote wouldn't unlock my truck. Two weeks ago I was out of town and same thing. I bought new batteries and change both remotes and neither worked. When I use the key to open the door the alarm goes off(is this normal?) and stays on until it times out. I can come back 10 minutes later and it might work. Of course this only happens in the middle of a Mall parking lot:eek: . Could it be a bad reciever?

Anybody else have this problem.

Thanks for any help. Don't want to go to dealer.

I've had a similar problem. My keyless entry causes the alarm to go off... almost everytime now. It used to be just once a week or so, but now almost all the time. I've written it off as a faulty "security" system. I generally don't lock my truck now, or if in a bad place just deal with the alarm going off.

Sounds to be like your alarm system receiver could be faulty... from what i've been told it's something the dealer doesn't fool around with, they yank the whole system out and replace it. I'm like you and don't involve dealers so i just live with ym problem. To me it's no biggie, but that's just my situation for some it may be a big deal to lock it up all the time.

My past experiences with locking vehicles is crappy, just leave it open your odds of still salvaging the truck are better. I remember driving home in a snow storm because some chump smashed out both my windows to get my CD player and CD's... even emptied out my change tray!!! "locking" my truck ended up costing 500 bucks in windows and labor and a very cold wet ride home.

Possible TSB

Inoperative or intermittent remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter.

This bulletin supersedes TSB 08-16-99, Dated May 28, 1999. This bulletin applies to vehicles built prior to March 1, 1999. It applies only to vehicles equipped with the new peanut shaped transmitters. The problem discussed is an inoperative RKE transmitter. This condition may be intermittent and will have similar symptoms to a dead transmitter battery. This can be caused by a lost or intermittent contact between the battery terminal and the printed circuit board. A transmitter repair kit containing a new case with an improved battery terminal has been released. This bulletin involves replacing the RKE transmitter case.
