Ebay horror story! I bought a 98. 5 from a dealer in the Houston area about 3 months ago, but he still won't give me the title. Any body have any ideas? I though maybe if there is a member in the area he/she could stop by and ask them what's up? He has quit taking my calls. I'm not asking for any thing illegal I just thougt maybe an actual body might be able to get some answers rather than my e-mail or messages. Any other suggestions? I am going to my local BMV on Tues. to get a title search form. I thought just maybe if I could track down the last owner they might be willing to get me a duplicate title and then sign it over to me... . the address I have is 9125 Hwy 6 W, Houston TX... .

I also believe that Ebay can potentially help out in this situation. Not too sure of any other ways to go. Do you have any documentation proving the sale of the vehicle? If so, with the auditor's office/DOL, you should be able to prove that a sale has taken place. Might be a little difficult. I would just take the time and make a road trip. the other thing is to go after the dealers bond, but this would take an attorney and all sorts of nastiness. I've heard of people paying for vehicles, through financial institutions, and then the dealer runs off with the money, and if the vehicle is floored, then no title is generated. The dealer steals the money, the person or other company with a lien on the vehicle will not release the title because they don't have the money, and either the buyer comes up with double the money for the rig, or the dealers license bond gets sucked up to pay the lienholder. i knew of one person who had to garage their vehicle they bought from one of these dealers for about two years and they still didn't have a title...

Sure I can prove the transaction took place, and prove I paid and he cashed the check... I've been doing ebay for over 4 years and let me tell you they WILL NOT help a person out in this situation. I got a $175 "refund" then they kicked him off ebay (big deal). I have talked to the Texas DMV, the Texas Dealers Asc. , IC3 (Internet Fraud Complaint Dept. -run by the FBI) Texas State Attourney General, and Texas State Poliece. NO ONE WILL DO ANY THING... I'm in Indiana so it's not like I can just run down and get some lawyer (who would probably just steal my $ any way). Even if I did win a judgement for those of you who don't know it's still up to the plaintiff to actually get the money out of the defendant. If they don't want to pay they always have the option of jail, but of course first there are lots more court fees... .
