OK - 1st I'm not a computer expert bu no means - but if someone can help I would appreciate it... ... somehow I have a program - that spysweeper slerts me to and asks me if I want to remove it - I say yes and it just comes back... ... In fact I have several of these - HOE can I kill them?

It is a program called netssch. exe

Spysweeper indicates that it's either in the Startup Folder or Registry: Also indicates HKLM: Run Once

Is this a program that I need... Iwas having some popup's that I thought I was rid of and I tried to go bacl about a week ti reconfigure with the XP program - and it told me nothinh had changed so it wouldn't do it... ... .

Wondering if this is a program associated with that - BUT when I look at who Spysweeper indicates this program is from - UNKNOWN. If from MS - I would think it would know this... ... .

Never heard of "Spysweeper".

Go to http://www.safer-networking.org and download "Spybot Search & Destroy". That should clean it.

If not, go to http://www.lavasoftusa.com and download "Ad-Aware".

Those are two of the best spyware cleaners around and they're both free.

While you're at it, go to http://www.javacoolsoftware.com and download "SpywareBlaster" & "SpywareGuard". Use these to innoculate your system on a regular basis (weekly) and kiss spyware goodbye forever.

Spysweeper is an excellent program, so is Lavasoft (have not tried the others), but SS will consistantly find more spyware than Lavasoft does. Are you running the demo of Spysweeper or have you registered it? When have you last run a full spy sweep and virus scan? You may have to delete your quarantine files as well.

I did a quick search of both Microsoft's and Symanetc's databases and netssch. exe doesn't show up at either place. Netssch. exe does not live on my XP Pro system either. I'm sure a Microsoft XP guru will chime in for you soon though. I agree with Rock-N-Rammer that Spysweeper is the best out there as I've tried most of them and SS is great. I would like to offer some tips that I've adopted that really help to bolster security. If you're surfing the web while logged on as an administrator or a user with administrator privileges, your system is more vulnerable to downloaded exe files. What I do is create a user account on my system which doesn't have the privileges to load software, and surf the web that way. It's just another barrier to the bad guys efforts to install software on your machine. Spysweeper will have to be launched by using the "Run As" command though as it wants to run with administrative privileges. (Right-click on SS and select "Run-As" and launch at as an administrator. ) If you do this perhaps that netssch will stop bothering you. Just a guess... I also agree that you should have your windows firewall turned on and install service pack 2 as additional security efforts.
