Thanks, TDR Staff

Feel left out.

Dist frozen!!!

I am seeing Highlighted text while reading forums lately... ... certain words. . like car, girlfriend, insurance. You click on them and then you are taken to a pop up ad. Anyone know what they are and how to get rid of it?? Ad-ware Does not see a problem... .

I ran spybot s & d on a clients machine last friday and removed 400 bots!!

Clients? You mean that you actually have time to do something else besides the TDR? We'll see if we can generate some more work for you. Girlfriends, Amsoil, auto transmissions, politics, ... let's see here...

You have some type of search enhancement program installed and running in the back ground.

Bring up task manager and tell us what programs are running in the background. Ctrl/Alt/Delete brings up the task manager box.

Also what OS are you using?

How long has this stuff been going on? If only recently or if you can pin a "close" date to it, you could do a system restore to a time when it wasn't acting up.

LOL the bad news is. It could be any one of them. Lets start with the one using the most CPU while you are on line. Do some surfing and watch CPU usage. Find the one that uses the most. Then post here.

Also look for on that is called Isearch. exe

Here is something else to try.

Go to control panel.

Go to administrative tools

Go to services.

In this window, is a list of everything thats running in the background. Next to it is the description of what it does. Be suspect of anything without a description. Read through them all and see if anything jumps out at you.

You can 'turn off' something you suspect might be causing the problems and if it fixes it, your done. If not, turn it back on and move to another.

Post questions about services you don't/can't figure out or do a search on the service name to figure out what it does.

I don't recall if you said which browser you use. If you have another browser installed, does the problem happen with that browser too?

If you use IE, there is a repair tool to reset IE back to its original configuration.

This is for windows services only. It won't list spyware/malware in this section. That is an area you can mess up a windows box real easy if you don't know what you are shutting off. So be carefull in this area.

The IE repair option most likely won't get rid of the problem he is having now. We need to find out what the program is that has infested him. It is most likely loading from at start from one of many system folders.

That window is for anything that registers itself as a service. Not just Windows. All kinds of stuff goes in there. Uncle Bill told me so.

I believe I found the Somb*tch it was a file created about 6 days ago in the window\prefetch file. It was called IEHost. exe with a bunch of numbers after it. So far so good thanks for all the help!
