HELP....wrong seat

Am trying to order 2007 dually with Laramie pgk which has leather trimmed seats. ALL literature and Dodge website shows standard leather trimmed seats are 40-20-40 with the Laramie pkg... The dealers I am talking to says Dodge will only let them order with leather trimmed bucket seats. The only way they can order the 40-20-40 is in a 4X4. I do NOT need a 4X4 and I do NOT want bucket seats. Dodge tells the dealers "tough". What can I do????? Can not change the seats out because the carpet is cut different and floor is different. Guess this is Daimler crap. #@$%! Does anyone know anyone HIGH enough in Dodge to fix this crap???????

You did not say what trans you were looking at. I picked the 6 speed auto.

Default seats are
VL** Seat, Leather Surfaced Split Bench • Laramie

option bucket seats are
GJ** Seats, Leather Surfaced Bucket • Laramie (cost) 431. 00 (list) 490. 00
(N/A ST or SLT) (N/A w/Manual Trans-DEG) (N/A w/QOP-2*J on Laramie 4WD After 9-1-06) (Req's Transfer Case-DH3 on Laramie 4WD) (Last Two Characters Refer to Interior Color) Includes Flat Fold Rear Storage Bin.

I would have bought the buckets for my 06, but it was N/A Manual Trans.

Maybe your dealer don't know how to use the codes? some places have problems like this. I saw one place a couple years ago that had several optioned out trucks, but none of them had electric adjust mirrors.

Yep. I built it online also... I also have had three dealers bid the truck and they all have the same problem. When they plug in the order to get their costs and such, the Dodge computer will only allow the order to have the $490. 00 busket seat option. Dealers have called and been told in so many words, "tough". All the brochures also show the 40-20-40 as standard with the leather trim Laramie. I absolutely do not want bucket seats so I may have to buy a Ford bad as I hate the thought. The dealers can order the 40-20-40 Laramie in a 4X4... . Really dumb..... Dealers are really ******.

Per the website, leather trimmed 40-20-40 bench is standard on all Laramie 3500 packages and configs, and buckets are an option. I can't say I'm surprised the website would show invalid data, though.

40/20/40 is the name for the bench seat with the center console that folds down. Walk through the lot and look at every truck the dealer has, you will not see an additional seat listed on the RS of the order slip.



Now on the ordering part, if you order the truck, it comes with a 40/20/40. If you don't add the bucket seats you don't get a choice of "no seats", it comes with the 40/20/40 bench seat.

There are two different seating configurations. . . the standard 40/20/40 "bench" seat Dodge has been using in the 2nd & 3rd Gen trucks which folds up for a 3rd passenger.

The bucket seat option gives you separate front seats with a hard console in the middle where no one can sit. I don't like the console, big ugly plastic thing IMO and I'd be torqued if I couldn't get leather in the 40/20/40 configuration on a 2wd.

superdave if you don't get anywhere with this, I'd just order the premium cloth seats and once you get the truck install a *real* leather kit such as Katzkin so you'll have leather front and back as well as the seatbacks. Dodge only gives you the seating surface up front, the rest is "pleather" . . . it's literally 80% vinyl.

I agree with vaughn, just get the cloth, and then work with your dealer on having it built into the price to have REAL leather installed when the truck comes in. I was looking at buying a 3rd gen last year and really wanted leather, but the trucks they had in stock didnt have leather. They said that if I wanted leather they could have it installed for 1200 bucks if I really wanted the leather. So, the option is there, plus I have heard the Katzkin leather is the cats meow... :-laf

I re-read the original post. It shoulds like dodge is forcing everyone to upgrade to bucket seats in the 2wd. No choice of leather or cloth bench.

My bets are we have an interior change coming for 08, and dodge is stuck with lots of leather buckets that nobody wants, so they are forcing them onto us.

now if you order a 6 speed, you can't get buckets (they don't fit) so that option would get you the leather bench seat!

Probably right in that they have too many buckets... . You can not order premium cloth with the Laramie H pkg. Leather trimmed 40-20-40 are (theoretically) standard with this pkg. But now you can only order them in 4X4 or you have to take the $490. 00 option "bucket seats, leather trimmed" in the 4X2... . I absolutely do not want either a 4X4 or bucket seats. We use the third seat at times for grandkids. I already have a 4X4 2500 SLT. The 1 ton I wrecked was used by me and to pull a large fifth wheel trailer (when we have time). The problem is not the $490. 00 option cost but the usage of the seat and the crappy console that comes with bucket seats. The $3000 upcharge for a 4X4 is not a problem either. BUT the 4X4 rides too high for my fiver without modifications to the trailer hitch and then the trailer will ride high in front. NOT what I want. I guess I will have to wait for the 2008 models and hope they can keep me as a customer. This will be my 4th Dodge truck. Of course there will probably not be any factory discounts until the end of this calender year so I guess I am stuck at home all summer. If I just had been later or earlier, I would not have had the head on collison maybe. Too late now.....
