First, crack open injector lines 1,3, and 4 at the cylinder head. This will allow the air to bleed out, and not enter the injectors. Then, run the lift pump through its self-priming cycle 3 or 4 times. To do that, just bump the starter for a second or so... But do not attempt to crank the engine. This will trigger the ECM to go into "priming mode" and the lift pump will run for 25 seconds. Do this 3 or 4 times. You should be able to see some air & fuel bublling out by the lines as the lift pump is running.
After you do that, crank the engine for 10 seconds, with the injector lines still cracked. Have someone watch the lines, to see if fuel comes out. Once you see some fuel coming out, you are set. Tighten the injector lines back down, and crand the engine in 15-second intervals until it starts. Be sure to wait a minute or two between crank cycles to allow the starter to cool. Once the engine starts to run on 2 cylinders, the others will come alive one by one, as the rest of the air is purgerd from the system.
I just changed mine this morning, ran for a few seconds then died.
I had to cycle the lift pump 4 times (turn key on-then bump to starting position-let pump run for 20 seconds) Then I made sure the canister was refilled by moving the drain lever to see if fuel was flowing. It was, cranked for 20-30 seconds and engine came to life... ... WHEW
