On the way home I ran thru several big puddles in the road. About 5 miles later, my warning chime goes off, all my dash instruments quite including speedo and tach and all the dash warning lights come on. The the odo shows a code of "No buS" and my ovhd computer shows "CCd". Truck starts and runs fine except for the above. What have I done???????????

About the only thing I can think of that could be shorting out and do all that, would be the bulkhead connector. Try using a hairdryer to get the moisture out.

Doc

PS - on second thought, maybe the power box on the fender well is wet. I don't think it's protected on the under side. I haven't had the box off yet, so I'm only guessing.

I'm guessing "No buS" might have something to do with the absence of data from the computer. That would make sense, seeing as nothing is working. Maybe the water got into the plug for the computer and is shorting across the pins. Pull the plug from the body computer and dry it out with warm air. Hopefully water won't fry the computer out.

Do the checks and dry-outs one step at a time. That way maybe you can tell us where exactly to look if it happens to one of us. :)

Okay, went out to the garage and started the truck this morning. Everything is back to normal EXCEPT the pesky check engine icon. Besides a hammer and ice pick(old dealer trick) how do you turn the little icon off???????? PS Y'all, the rain guage said 5" this morning for the last 48 hours. If you are in it's path get out your rubber duckies... ... ... ... ... .....

Wash all affected wires with DISTILLED WATER as it is non conductive... yup, thats right the minerals are the conductive part of water. Then dry and style as usual!

Mike

A good moisture displacer may help.

Had a friend leave his cordless phone out in the rain for all day button side up and thought it was time for a new phone and when it dried out it worked fine. Hope your truck is that way too.

Everything is back to normal and the engine icon has gone out with no help from me. Thanx for all the advice!

For the check engine light you can try disconnecting the batteries

for an hour or two and see what happens. This works on many new er cars but have not tried it on the truck.
