Came back to Colorado for the holidays and have ran into a major problem. It has been really cold here at night, around 10 below. Started my truck today and had no steering and really no brakes. Then had fluid pouring out the bottom of the power steering. I have read that this maybe a vaccum pump problem or there is an O-ring that may have failed. Any help on this would be great. Also I don't have a service manual and was wondering if there was anything online somewhere that I could use. Thanks, need some help quick.







The truck is a 2000 QC with 111,000 miles. All I have done to it is put the EZ edge on.

Did you have any fluid left in the power steering pump reservior? The power steering pump also supplies high pressure oil to the Hydra boost brake booster. It is no longer a vacuum booster. Dodge quit using them on the 2500 and 3500 series trucks after '96 (Not sure on the 1/2 t. trucks. ). My '97 has the Hydra booster also.

There was a little bit of fluid left. I am starting to worry. I only have a week left before I have to head back to Oklahoma.

To find/fix leak. Refill resevoir, run engine, have someone else turn wheel and observe where fluid comes out.



Then fix it.



IF the fluid is coming out REAL slow--and it just took you a while to notice it, then you might be able to drive it to a repair facility. You'll want to stop and top off that fluid pretty regular.
