I've got a funny story... Last night around eleven, a girl I've kinda been seeing calls me up and says I'm on my way to pick you up, dad's truck won't shift out of park.....
Anyway, she picks me up and I get filled in on the situation. Seems that the ABS system (which had just been worked on) has failed again and her dad was stuck at a gas station where he had stopped to fillup. He got back in to leave, and the abs light came on and wouldn't shift out of park... .
We arrive on the scene and tempers are flaring, blame is being thrown around... . I'm mentally laughing my arse off at them... Was quite the display of family togetherness... .
I say hello and get down to business of checking the truck out. Checked both power dist. boxes and they seemed fine, checked the wire connections from the engine compartment down to the transmission and they seemed fine. Then I crawled under the dash and started feeling with my fingers to find that magic little lever that was keeping the shifter knob from working properly. They had already given up on the truck and were ready to call a tow truck. After about 10 minutes of fiddling with this and that, I happen across the luck bit and flip it, viola, the trucks now out of park and can be driven home.
That is one instance that a standard would have gotten you home.....
Just thought I would pass along my interesting evening, sorry Chat freaks for missing last night... but I was in better company... .
Cheers,
Morph.
