I think I remembered a post about a pusher pump install where someone installed their pusher with a bypass and checkvalve, so the main lift pump could draw fuel bypassing the pusher. I have searched the old threads with no luck, anyone know of this set up, and what checkvalve is used?

Thanks, Larry

You Going To MM?

Larry,

Consider a single pump at the tank. The Summit pump I'm running has a great track record. Strong and long lived. We could clean up the wiring at MM.

Bellows pump...

I use a bellows pump as a pusher on my old leaky plow truck (6. 2GM).

Before the line leaks got so bad, the lift pump had no problem pulling fuel through the bellows pump which is located in the bed of the monster. (i. e. if the pump fails or is off in the RAM it will not act as blockage to the normal flow of fuel) It was originally installed to help push fuel from the tank after months of sitting idle.

The bellows pump now serves to overcome all the rusty leaks in the fuel lines. When it runs the truck runs. When it does not run, the liftpump on the engine sucks air via the leaks and the truck dies.

Nothing like plowing snow and seeing the diesel streaks all over the parking lot... . :( A gallon of fuel for 20 min of plowing is getting old real fast but then again the truck was only $400.

I say all this, not to demonstrate that I enjoy pollution, but rather to make an argument that this bellows pump idea might be just right for the normal to mild HP setups.

This spring, when I am sure (8" of snow yesterday) that I can park the leaking beast for much needed repairs, I plan to move the electric bellows pump to the area of my fuel tank on the RAM.

I hope to get rid of the bucking in the RAM which I feel under WOT when driving with the Edge powered up.

HVAC , how long you been running the summit pump on the red rocket ?

i'm ready for a new one .

david you are way overdue on doing something with that pump ( like i can talk) , have you removed any of the fuel line restrictions yet ?

HVAC,

I just ordered the Summit pump. Are you running a filter pre-pump? If so, what kind? Thanks for the r&d.

Tom

Pre Filter

I've run half a dozen different pumps from time to time and I've never had a pre filter. I'm not endorsing the non-use of a pre filter by any stretch. Maybe I've just been lucky so far?

MoparMuscle.. you are right

Well the fuel lines on the old plow truck died yesterday when the frame split by the front right tire. Guess that kind of commits the bellows pump to a life on the plow rig (after a trip on the trailer to the weld shop) since the new rubber fuel line is strung over the top of the cab.

SO, back to plan 'A' for the RAM. (pusher pump as I should have done long long ago)

We are in early Mud season here in VT so I have time to order the pump. What other feedback on the pump which Steve got via Enterprise? That was the one I planned to use last year.

I will probably go with the Summit pump, can one of you please shoot me a URL to an old thread regarding installation of it?

Thx,

DavidVT
