My best guess would be 13 without towing but I don't have any real world numbers. I would really like to know as well. I would like to see the Hemi do better than the competitions V-8s. My father in law's 05 Chevy 2500 never gets better than 13 empty, I hope the Hemi is better.

My wife has an 07 Jeep GC Limited with the Hemi, around town it gets 11#@$%! and on the highway going 65 with an egg under my foot trying to get as much out of her as possible got 20 (3 hour trip all highway) So I would say that 12-14 empty would be a good guess.

That is with me driving to make sure it was using 4 cyl. MDS

Well, it works out that with the increase in diesel, the money it cost for the diesel engine package and the extra couple thou I have put into it, it will take me about 6 years before the diesel engine has paid for itself if diesel remains the same price as gas. Not too bad and my resale value will be a lot higher. Someone told me the other day that they read in the new TDR mag that it no longer pays to own a diesel. To me, it still pays plenty fine.

Put it this way, my wife's Charger R/T gets 19-20 mpg on a regular basis (normal commute and errands). Long haul highway up to 22-23 mpg. This is driving with an egg under your foot and cruise control.

Hard to believe a 3500 could get much better than 15. What's scary is my 2001 2500 with the diesel is within 1 mpg from these respective averages. (not including towing/hauling time).

The VVT Hemi (2009) should do much better in the Mileage, the 5. 3 GM gets awesome mileage. When we run the 5. 3 on the can it runs 14/16 minutes even with forced cycling,The 5. 7, 4. 7,3. 9, and the 318 maybe run 8 minutes. The only problem with the VVT is quality lube needs to be used, if you don't the Valve gets a film and sticks, not good for running the same cylinders off for long periods of time, its a easy fix but cost $200. 00.
