Duel EE, Yes the the traction bars do help with wheel hop, but they do a great job at stopping axle wrap. Especially the cal tracks. http://www.calvertracing.com/info/info.htm Here is a link to their site. They have a unique design that actually forces the leaf spring down when the axle wraps. Forcing the rear tires to the ground.

Drury, Ya I Know Craig really well, I actually stopped by his shop this afternoon and I am sure that was your truck he was working on. The Silver one???? Nice!!!!. The Cal tracks will help a lot. I have tested mine and the one track that I ran them on with really good track prep I could not get them to brake loose. I usually run at LACR, but won't go there now because it has become dangerous because of blowing sand. LACR has always been known for lousy track prep. Or should I say NO track prep. So I usually have to severely limit my boost when I launch. As a matter of fact, I upgraded my torque converter and I could brake them loose in all gears but overdrive when running there. When I got the Cal tracks that mostly went away. Although I think it would have been completely solved if he would have prepped at least a little. In july I went to Colorado for Truck fest and dynoed at 452 hp on their dyno. Bandimere raceway has the best prep I have ever seen. I could not get them to brake loose no matter how much boost I gave it. And in Sept, at Fontana Speedway, with marginal prep I could build close to 10 psi with out braking it loose. So I would have to say they are definitely a big help. If I know Craig, he will do you right. He has helped me to make my truck very fast, and yet still streetable. I hope you are ready though, this is very very addicting... . :-laf Please let me know how you like it when he is finished with it. :--) :--) :-laf

Good one! Still say you oughta try some racing tires... at least once.

Hey there Bruce, Didn't take you long to find me out here. Ya your right, I should try popping some slicks on it, but I just forked out almost $800 for a nice set of Brigestones and I am working on BOMBing the Jeep Liberty so I am a tad short on cash right now. Once I get some gauges and a tuner on the Jeep and get a few passes on her, then maybe I will take the 99 back to the track. Only problem is finding a track that will lay down some VHT so I can get a good launch. You guys back in TX use that stuff like water. And boy is it nice... Oo. :D :D

A guy at work just bought a short cab short box Hemi powered ram. He thinks its really cool and fast. Some people just don't know what they are missing.

Maybe you should show him one day when you are both leaving together. Ask if he want's to see what a real truck can do - then stay side by side till hes out of coal and wave by by as you pore it on :-laf

My best track time is 15. 0 flat. I did this time at Bandimere in Denver. Can't remember my 60' times and never really considered the 60' much because I spent so much time with the wheels spinning. But my Best 1/4 mile time was 15. 3 and most of the time more like 15. 6. After the Cal tracks I got my 15. 0 and then most consistant at 15. 3. So I would have to say they knocked off a good . 3 sec consistantly. A lot depends on air temp, track conditions and nerves. I always screw up my first run and for the last year it has been tough to find a track where I can get more than about 3 runs for the day. Sucks actually.

Cal Tracks is actually located about 3 miles from my house so I walked in and ordered mine and didn't have to pay for shipping etc. I think I paid about $350. for them and they let me pick my color. The bottom of my truck is a Maroon Red so I matched that. Looks cool. The guys at Cal Tracks are real nice too.

Had both

I had a 2003 1500 hemi Quad cab and got tired of 13-14mpg. Traded it and eventually got my '05 CTD and will never look back. I had owned "99 CTD and loved it. I traded it on the 03 and was disapointed. The Hemis are not real strong until the rpms are up. Not an issue with the diesel. Pulls my 6k trailer like nothing. The only thing I would change is the rip off price of the fuel. Performance between the two is not really and issue especially out of the hole.
