Thanks for the good looking truck comment. If OEM is what came on it that's what it is, I didn't change it, only the rear diff cover.

Interesting, I wonder how hard it would be to mate to a non C&C.

Could we get some more pics?

Latest addition to the truck

Looking more and more like Harvey's truck :-laf

George,

Wow, I'm impressed. You bought the high dollar version Transfer Flow tank with the TRAX II fuel gauge. My old faithful TF tank is the plain Jane version. I have to guess how much fuel remains in my TF tank. I reset the overhead console trip odometer each time I refuel and estimate tank level based on 10 mpg when towing.

I'm looking forward to reading your impressions when you tow your fiver with your truck.

Mine now has a little over 7,000 trouble free miles on it and I'm very satisfied with the way it drives empty or tows at 25k gross combined weight.

LOL Harvey

I didn't know if the plain Jane version was even an option, anyway it's nice to be able to glance at the monitor and see how much fuel you have onboard.

I already know I'll be very happy with the way this rig will tow, I was impressed just driving around the neighborhood, the ease of getting the weight moving, the way the truck handles the weight without squatting and I know it will handle the grades just fine.

The price of the tank wasn't cheap but I don't think it was too bad either $1750 installed, but I like to put things in prespective, I believe you get what you pay for and I have never read a single post where somebody was unhappy with transfer flow. I tend to hang on to things a bit longer too, a lot of guys get new trucks every few yrs... ... . I still have my 96 Oo. Oo. Oo.

Nice. It's almost the same floor plan as my 27 5L, except your Fox is a bit longer. How do you like it and did you purchase it new?

That's a nice looking setup you have there, I like the fox just fine, good solid trailer. I bought it new back in Jan 2004, I ordered it although the dealer screwed up on about every option I requested.

Well, George, now it looks like the cat is out of the bag. Everyone knows you got a new truck, it's on the internet.

George,

Yeah, I'm confident you'll enjoy towing with your new truck. Launching heavily loaded from a dead stop, particularly on a steep grade, is a lot more satisfying than with a lousy 48RE or five speed like you have in your older truck.

I agree with your thinking. The Transfer Flow tank system will last you the rest of your life if you choose to keep it that long. That's a lot of years and a lot of miles to "depreciate" it out over. Mine is installed on the third Dodge Ram. It has been used about 500k miles and is still as good as the day I installed it.

Just got home today

I just got back from my first trip towing with the new truck. Love the way the truck rode, a nice smooth ride. The trip was about 235 miles one way, I kept it at 55mph both ways (per break in instructions for the rear end). One the way there I got 9. 5mpg on the overhead and 11. 5 returning home on . I know the truck will do better once it's broken in but I don't think my mileage will be any better because I won't be towing 55mph and in all the truckers way :D

George,

Glad to hear your first trip was a success. It will do a little better with a few thousand miles on it.

I only have a little over 8k on mine but it has loosened up some and now that it has a few miles on it I don't baby it as much. It will provide good acceleration when fueled.

Mounted spare tire

My talented next door neighbor made this mount for me. Notice in the last picture a place for a padlock to make sure the spare doesn't grow wings and fly away. :-laf

George,

That's a great idea. I have just returned home from a 3,000+ mile trip pulling my fiver up to Sault Sainte Marie, MI and back without a spare tire for my truck. I kept the complete never-on-the-ground spare tire and wheel off my '06 Ram and could do something similar.

Would your neighbor make another one for me? I'll pay a fair price for one if he'll make me one identical to yours.

Hey Harvey

Doesn't look like fuel prices are slowing you down lol. I'll ask my neighbor, right now he is at a Harley gathering, said he'll be back Sept. 9th. I forwarded your inquiry to his email.

Thanks George. I appreciate your effort. If your neighbor is not interested I'll print a copy of your (his) design and take it to a local "blacksmith" to have him make me one just like it.

How's your new Ram doing?

I've managed to roll up almost 17,000 miles on mine and so far have experienced no problems.
