This is what I am looking at. This comes from KBB.

Ram 2500 Quad Cab SLT

ETH 24V HO Turbo Diesel

DEE Manual

2BG QOP

ADB Protection Group

AHC Trailer Group

GPG Mirrors

DSA Axle (can I choose Gears)

LNJ Fog Lights

RQB AM/FM/CD Infinity (still deciding on this one. I may go cheap and add an Alpine all in one XM radio unit instead)

M9 Premium bench

CVN Storage (Is this worth it?)

WD3 Wheels (can I save any money with aftermarkets?)

GFD sliding window

Color Patriot Blue wtih Dark Slate interior.

I want a "truck" but with some creature comforts as well. I don't need all those electronic gadgets out there today.

My big questions are the wheels. If I decide to add a leveling kit I know I can add a bigger wheel and tire later. The Stereo I definetly want an XM set up after listening to one. Would I lose anything not having the Infinity system. Can I buy just the Infinity speakers and amp? KBB shows a retail price of $41,500. An invoice of $36,639. What kind of savings can I find of of the invoice?

Th CVN load flat floor is definitely worth it (only available with premium cloth or leather interior). Can't comment on the wheels, as I have a dually.

Fold flat floor is really worth the money. You can choose the gears. Standard is the 3. 73. The off-road group has the 4. 11. There may be another way to order it. I don't think the infinity system is worth it, especially if your going to upgrade the head unit later.
Think about the rear slider. You can't reach it while your driving so it will be some hassle to open and close. There are aftermarket electric sliders available.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, I will most likely hold out on the stereo for an upgrade. Wheels I am still not sure on. What is in the off road group?

Off Road Group

MSRP: $825. 00

Anti-Spin Differential Axle

4. 10 Axle Ratio

Off-Road Decal

Fog Lamps

Transfer Case Skid Plate Shield

LT265/70R17E OWL On-Road/Off-Road Tires

Tow Hooks

I agree w/ the people who said to get the load floor-slick and I have seen like $1000 to do it through the parts dept later.

Get either the slider of heated rear to get the deep tint on the back glass.

Protection group is a transfer case skid plate and some tow hooks. These are also in the "Plow group" which has different front springs and an alternator, I think.

The Infinity Speakers give you an amp with decent speakers. If you want to save the dough, aftermarket will be comparable in price after you are all done. What I would suggest is think about steering wheel controls for the radio. All the aftermarket stuff has the extra wire for being remote operated by factory controls. For 60 bucks, it's worth a serious look.

I got the slider as my kids can operate it to get in the topper or let air in for the dogs. Look at a topper with the fold down front window so you can wash both winders without swearing. :D

The wheels and off-road tires are $3xx plus about $264 for the tires. For me, the chrome stockers work fine. The fogs are $90 so the Off-Road package is bargain going just by the numbers.

From the $36,639, there may be $2500 left on 04. 5's (on the lot), plus the Farm Bureau $500, plus 1% college deal, and maybe some employee or Dodge affiliated 1%, plus the CDL discount. Some dealers may stack the above, mine only gave me my 1% plus some OJT thing. At the end of June, the 04. 5's were being pushed hard by MPLS dealers. Trucks in the 40,500-40,880 could be had for 32,500 to 33,000 before sales tax and license.

If it's an 05, the above $2500 doesn't apply at this time.

Things like a deal on an extended warranty (paid for with 4 ball joints :( ), the dealer kicking in an oil change or two, rear floor mats, mudflaps and the wheel well liners would be worth bargaining for.

Just my $. 02.

The fold flat floor is shown available separately as a $100 option.

Also, when ordering, if you select the steering wheel radio controls, you automaticly get stuck with the $750 Infinity radio. When I order my '04, I tried to get the wheel controls with the standard radio. Just wouldn't take it. I opted out. Didn't think the controls were worth $75 for the controls and $750 for the radio.

I just pulled this info off the Build and Price section on dodge.com. The '05 optioning may be different.

IMO, you're gonna want the Anti-Spin differential.

The Cummins generates so much torque, I'm sure I'd get very tired of spinning one wheel on takeoff.

Even with the Anti-Spin, you gotta be easy on wet pavement.

Well, Tomey Gun gave me a price. $36,211. 00 for a 2005 4x4 quad cab short bed. Sound pretty good? There are a few thing I will change so it may drop the price a little.

Hard to say if that's a good price or not. What's the MSRP? What's the invoice? Any rebates in effect? From what I've seen posted, about the only way to beat Tomey is to buy on EP (Employee Price). I bought mine that way. 4. 6% under invoice + $3000 in rebates.

MSRP was $41,580 Not sure what the invoice was. I plan on using my granddads employee discount as welll. Most likely I will wait a few months to see if any rebates pop up. Moterhead how did you get $3000 in rebates?

$2500 rebate in effect at the time of the order, $500 rebate in effect at time of delivery. $2500 + $500 = $3000. Don't let the dealer tell you that EP and F&F purchases don't get rebates. NOT true. I got 'em all. The nice thing about those plans is the price is set. F&F is not that great of a program. Dealers can beat it if they want to. Tomeygun does it all the time. I bought my '03 hemi on F&F and the '04 CTD on EP. I traded the '03 in on the '04. The only negotiating done was the value of the tradein.
