Arizona is good to old vehicles, zero rust issues. That truck can't be more than a few miles from my house, I recognize those mountains...

I think he might be just a little optimistic on that price though.

I don't know guys, I'm not sure I could give up all the luxuries of living in PA to come out to a dry climate like Arizona. I mean, how could I live without road salt, mud, below zero temps this time of the morning when I'm leaving for work, arthritis pain, and seasonal allergies. :);)
 
My step dad had a 64 F250 campers special - essentially the same truck. It came from a small fire department in Cali, a retired brush fire truck or something. Fire engine red, it looked GOOD. I forget the exact mileage but it had less than 30k on it when he bought it which was in the early 90's.
One of many he regrets selling .

I dunno, buyer would be no more a dufus than anyone paying 60-70k for a vehicle...…o_O
or paying 100k + for a "luxury" 5th wheel, 100's of thousands for a luxury class A, etc. To each his own.:cool:

You know, as I get older, I really appreciate these older, simplistic vehicles.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the voice activated NAV, and the electronic gizmos on my 2018 Ford. But, I've got a soft spot for the old iron like that.

Me too, but I still like to wrench on my own vehicles. They are making it increasingly hard to do so. John Deere and maybe some automakers too, are trying to eliminate this ability. In effect, you really wouldn't own the product, you would just be licensed to use it(or lease it). Even the parts they sell now a days are junk. I just sold off a 79 F250 super cab 4x4, I would've like to have kept, but had to start thinning the herd. I don't think I can part with the 76 F150 4x4. After the trans re-do in the ranger, gotta keep that one too......heck I wanna keep em all.o_O

The one big advantage to the new vehicles is safety however. I never want to be involved in an accident, but you have a much better chance in one of these modern trucks with the safety engineering that goes in to them, airbags, crumple zones, etc. than you do in the old vehicles. I've taken my girls for short trips in my old C10 for example, but I'm a nervous wreck with them in a vehicle with side saddle gas tanks, no airbags, etc. If it wasn't for this aspect of it, I'd probably be driving '70's era trucks daily. I just love them personally, they are so easy to maintain and repair, have character, etc.
 
Indeed in the automotive world, there are right to repair laws and OBDII that kinda keep the consumer in the game. IF you look at heavy equipment, like JD, mentioned before, it’s a whole different picture. We have a series of Komatsu loaders, and we cannot get any service info past a parts catalog and a basic shop manual. Any diagnostic info is held hostage even from a hi volume fleet, until the money comes out.
