Studs in place of head bolts?

Just when I thought I had some real torque ratio on my CTD I went & bought a 1918 Model T this week. I was looking up the engine spec's and it came from the factory with 20 hp & 88 lbs of torque!!! Now that means if my Cummins was rated at 215 hp I would have over 860 lbs of torque.

So my 85 year old "T" has better ratio then my 96 cummins?!

What's up with that?!!:D

Lots of old engines have tremendous torque values. They run slow, but have big displacement and put out lots of torque. I used to have a 1 cylinder gas engine with 1725 cubic inches of displacement that only turned 250 rpm. That engine had terrific torque.

Now if you want REAL torque, look at a steam engine. They can start a full load from zero rpm!
