What about oil changes? I think they are even easier than brake changes.

That's a given. I have changed every oil change on every vehicle I have ever had since I bought my first car while I was in High School until I purchased my 05 Dodge/Cummins. When I bought my new truck, the dealer through in a free oil change for 7 years at two per year. I do take it to the dealer for my free oil and filter changes, but I stand there and watch every move and talk to them. Quite frankly, I'd rather change it myself. I have no idea what kind of oil Mopar bulk is anyway. For all I know it's probably the used oil they drained out of the oil change before mine.

I worked on a 7. 3 that was run for a good while with a bad rear vibration u-joint/slip yoke that vibrated all the t-case bolts loose and broke 2, the t-case was held on by the reamed out dowel pin holes and the input/output shaft. The t-case had never been off before either.

Go to this site, & read about "Phase" of a driveshaft. If your shaft is installed out of phase, you will never keep the driveline hardware tight. I have seen several conversions where the DS is out of phase, & the rusulting Vibration is blamed on everything from Tires to the Wind. Once you understand Phase, you can check it in a second by a quick peek under the truck! P.

I have always done all of my own work, I get a great deal of satisfaction out of doing it myself. I know it's done right and every possible thing that could be done has been, to insure a good job. I have always thought that the best person to work of a vehicle was the owner, who has more at stake then the owner?? On one.

I have been fortunate enough to have the place and tools needed to do just about any repair on any vehicle. I always look forward to working on my Dodge, may be because it never really breaks down, and all my work is adding parts that help it's performance? But it is always a joy. I have also been very lucky at finding a local shop that does some things that I can not, like getting an alignment. They allow me to stay beside and even assist the technician while he performs his magic. Really aliening a truck isn't that hard, you just need the right equipment, unfortunately it is all very expensive and out of reach of the ordinary guy. Not sure it this is just me or if everyone feels the same when working on their trucks, but I could not be happier. I truly enjoy the time I spend working and adding aftermarket pieces to my truck. Some mediate, other do yoga... while I just get out the wrenches and go to town.

I'm sure many here would agree that ford and chevy arent nessarily that bad except for there powertrains.
