You know those Mainers... sorry Mike We were snowmobiling and had stopped in Ashland over night. We were watching the news, and some Einstein burned his house down trying to warm a pot of gasoline on the stove, because his car wouldn't start. No lie.

Some of us lack basic common sense on occasion, sometimes it's more of a "Hold my beer and watch this!" kinda event.

But none of the drunks that I hung out with in various parts of the state ever, ever, ever did anything quite that stupid.

The story keeps changing from "It was a dud" to "He had it upside down and was waving a lit lighter" to "He was clowning around and had no intention of setting it off" to "His friends thought that they had him talked out of even trying it"..........

One stupid frigin' move regardless....now the parents have started a "Go Fund Me" for funeral expenses which I have no problem with but they made the statement "That any leftover money would go to tighter fireworks laws"...we all have a problem with that as no law will ever make up for something that stupid. Punish us all for the actions of one.

Better education regarding lit fireworks, hang fires, don't ever set a mortar tube on your frickin' head, etc. might be a better tactic.

Another fireworks rocket scientist put the smoldering remains in a pile of cardboard next to his garage and managed to set that on fire in my town.....

And this doesn't count the people in this state that die as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning from gensets being run inside the garage during power outages, that one always gets me....how could you not know better????

Seems with parents like that the apple did not fall far from the tree, and we can predict their political inclinations if the first response is "there needs to be another law".. probably also want legal Pot too, talk about ironic, and conflicting.. the same people that want more laws, then often complain about the existing, ineffective and unenforceable laws we currently have.. proof that such thinking can only be accurately called a metal disorder...

BINGO!! That is it, the left can't have people responsible for their own actions.. ever notice how they claim guns kill people? SUV's cause accidents? Now we have a Flag working with Guns to kill people.. it is madness.. but sadly works for far too many ignorant people. This is also why they are typically soft on punishment for criminals.. has to be the fault of "society" in some way the led these people to crime... NEVER can the accept the obvious that people sometimes make poor choices, and it is fair and reasonable that they live with the consequences of these choices they make, the alternative to remove any and all choice for their own protection is the very extinction of any form of Liberty, and they want that? (the useful idiots don't even know that, but the puppet masters know full well they are seeking to completely control people, of course they don't live by the same rules they force upon others).

As a kid growing up there was a guy that lived a few doors down. This guy was absolutely brilliant when it came to politics or anything dealing with city, state, federal governing agencies. But was a absolute total Toad Stool when it came to anything mechanical one day I was going to the house next door a buddy of mine. I seen Jack Hoffman was his name under the hood of his car he had the plug wires off and was changing sparkplugs. I was amazed that Jack would even attempt such a feat I didn't think that he could find the hood latch. I asked him if he knew what plug wires went to what sparkplugs? he asked if it mattered? Well only if you should want it to run smooth Jack (off) I went a got a Chiltons from our garage and got it set up for him.

Later that night I came in from being out on a date and seen fire trucks and ambulances at his house. I parked walked over to the cop and asked what he do set the house on fire? The cop told me that Jack (off) and Bonnie (a knock out looking lady) wanted to have Sex and it was to hot in the house so he went to the garage fired up their car turned on the AC and got in the backseat to bust one off with the Garage door down.

I heard a story from a cop that a group of high school kids got wasted and decided to play Russian roulette. Only problem was they did not have access to a revolver so they used a semi-auto pistol. Guess who lost.

I think I can explain what went wrong with the fireworks thing.

Sadly, they do not understand. This is the same utopian mindset of collectivists everywhere. They really think with enough meddling they can create a perfect society. Ironically they create something further and further from that. These are the people that bring us Communism, Socialism.. like the people running Greece right now. They are more dangerous than the MOB boss.. the MOB at least limits the damage to the society it feeds upon, the utopian is unlimited in his quest, no matter how miserable the data indicates failure on utopian goals of re-distributive policy, he doubles down assuming if only more control, more confiscation of assets and smarter leaders... his plans will somehow work eventually.. and they sadly just don't end. That said, on a positive note, nothing new about this at all.. been in place long before us and will no doubt be the case long after. America had, for sometime at least, been a place where such people were mostly shunned from positions of power for a good portion of our history.. and we later cycled toward then away from it.. I just hope we are again moving away from it now.. though kind of hard to quantify and confirm.

JR actually Jack was a pretty nice guy, a bit on the lame side of mechanics but without his helping me with High School Government class I would have had to do many more car repairs to teachers cars in order to graduate. It was a pretty funny group of people that made up our neighborhood in Cypress Calif, a mostly blue collar bunch each had their own skill, Jacks wasn't mechanical & lacked what I found out later the all important common sense.
