Hesitation after my 1st long tow w/12000lbs 5r & 48r

My stock 3500 `05 :) with 12600 miles now hesitates :( when I start off. Feels as if on a gasser the timing was off. It jerks in 1st and into 2nd even with or w/o the tow/haul mode on. This started after the first leg of the trip. No codes, idles fine, runs smooth once in 2nd. If I floor the pedal when I start out, I still feel as if its searching in 1st/2nd. Really noticeable when I go up even a slight hill. I changed out the fuel and air filter before the trip.

I know, I know its a auto, but my Knees don`t like the clutch so go easy :-laf . Thanks guys Mark

Side ? for you, should I install gauges 1st ( x-monitor) or install a deep oil pan?

All of mine have been auto's, all of them have towed, some of them for a living. Take it to the dealer, it is under warranty, and get it checked out. That isn't normal.

How does the engine sound?

i. e. --- is it engine or drivetrain?

If you hear the engine hesitate it sounds like your fuel pressure may be dropping off. A pressure leak or fuel pump.

If the engine sounds normal I'd guess a slipping torque converter.

But have an expert test it.

Mine did this also in the first 20K. Only after towing, and going up grades were when it would really show up.

It went away and I forgot about it. Not sure if it went after I changed the transmission oil, or added more power!

Smd I would bring your truck down to Carson Dodge, they have a great service department and a couple mechanics that really know their stuff when working on the 48RE or the CTD for that matter.

Rankram, I`m going to do just that. I will not let Reno Dodge even put air in my tires!
