Here I am

hesitation on heavy acceleration

68rfe problem maybe valve body

Engine dies while driving/idling then refuses to crank

'05, 5.9, 6 speed 300K miles. Hesitation started all of a sudden. On an easy acceleration, there is no hesitation. On heavy acceleration, the hesitation starts, if I ease off the throttle, it smooths out. Changed the spin on FF105, no difference. The only code is P0477, Exhaust Back Pressure Regulator, which seems unrelated.

Thoughts ?

It's the waste gate regulator that this code means, and they are well known to fail after some miles but mainly by age, the wires simply fall apart.

Do you monitor boost?

I do not monitor boost, no additional gauges. Is hesitation a symptom of a failing "waste gate regulator" ?

Id say so, if you're only build half the boost that's needed it slows down quite a bit.
But you don't need to throw parts at it, just watch the boost with a capable scanner to rule that out.

Best I can do on my phone.

Have you cleared the code and seen if it returns?

What intercooler is on your 05? Plastic or Metal end cap?
