Filled up the work truck today, noticed there are new "40 cetane" ratings stickers on the pumps at Hess stations. Used to be minimum 42 around here. Funny how they lower the quality of our fuel and bump up the price. Any one else notice the new stickers?

No Hess stations that I know of in my area in Michigan. New as in since the introduction of of ULSD or did the cetane labels change when the fuel was switched.

I don't think Hess has there own Diesel, buy from a Dist, dependent on Station
owner,
I see all cetane ratings, and some pumps not labeled at all.
I also see a big variation in color/viscosity.

The 45 cetane up NorthEast has always given me better mileage,
and the slight brownish fuel with less foam also better mileage.

Southern Truck Stop fuel in Georgia seems to be the worst Fuel

No no, new as in like the last few weeks. 45? Wow, I've never seen anything higher than 42. I was at a station today on a delivery, was gonna ask the manager if he knew the scoop, but I didn't have time for the "deer in the headlights" look.

As for my own truck, I think I might get a decent tank out of this last one, as I just had the light come on at slightly over 500 miles.

I believe owns all of their own stations, but I do know they have their own distribution system, they have terminals in Albany and outside of Utica for the NY area

Iirc......

It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure the cetane, along with specific gravity, viscosity, flash point etc, should all be on the bill of lading that comes with every delivery.

It shouldnt require a rocket scientist to get your answer. :D

Don't know about the bill of lading, but the BP station I fill at lists theirs, on the pump, as 45 or 50. I can't remember as I only fill about once every 3+ months.
