Hey Cub Cadet fans: A Cub crawler?

Time to sell the 1200 Cadet, while searching for places to list it, I stumbled on this project. The guy used his machine shop to turn a lawn mower into a crawler, impressive.

I have an old Massey Ferguson Lawn Tractor, it's a MF12. Runs great to mow the lawn with. Just had the motor rebuilt a few years ago.

Massey Ferguson dealer not to far from me built one from a Massey riding mower. Have seen it twice. Pretty sharp.

I'm a big fan of Cub Cadets. I've got four: 1966 123 Hydro (12HP first one introduced), 1966 122 (12HP gear drive), 1968 72 (7HP gear drive), and a red 782 series (17HP dual Hydro). I belong to the IHCubCadet.com forum and IHRegistry.com forum and have attended several shows including Red Power RoundUp and PlowDay events.



I've seen that crawler in person. It is simply amazing beyond belief. Dan Hoefler is a master machinist and has a couple thousand hours in the crawler. Its modeled more after the Oliver Cletrac tractor. His work is unbelievable. He also built a 100 model 4x4 or FWD model using a custom built transfer case and a front axle from the rear of a golf cart. Also built a Hi Crop 100 that sits up very tall. Additionally he built a pull behind scraper that uses real hydraulics and I believe a tandem engine road grader model. His pieces are works of art to say the least.



IH built some very tiny dozers for real. That same size. In fact I know where one sits in high weeds. I've been trying to get my hands on it for some time. Soon I will have it... soon .

Those old cubs are cool. That crawler is too neat. It looks oem.

If I had my own farm or acreage, I would like to get a 12-1650 Cub Cadet. Used to run a 1250 at the camp where we worked growing up. I did ALOT of mowing with one. Those things are built VERY heavy and the quick-tach setup they have, is slick. If I remember right, they weigh about 1000# without anything else on them. This one I used had cast weights on it and a 42" deck.



All the junk that MTD or Craftman have, are made WAY to light. I hate the Craftman that my grandpa gave my folks. To do something as "simlpe" as swapping the mower deck for the snow blade is a job. NONE of the mounting brackets are the same for both, and all are bolted into place. #@$%! Who's the genius that came up with that idea? A MORON! The REAL Cubs were pretty simple. Pull a couple of pins or pull a latch, and slid it off. Piece of cake, and no tools required to do it.
