I went to Cummins the other day asking about an oil pan heater and because our oil pans don't have a threaded hole on the side we can't get a threaded element that just screws in... . BUT what they did give me was a cool little unit called a "Hot Pad", which is a flat square piece of a rubberry kinda plastic that has that 3M peel and stick thingy on it. They say it works really well and I'm gonna be putting it on this weekend. If anyone else in the "Cold Country" is interested, it's made by fleetguard and the PN# is:

It always kinda bugged me i figgure vehicles should have oil pan heaters especially in the cold climates alot of us see. Probably takes a LONG time for the heat to transfer to the oil with just a block heater because of that damn heat rises theory...

I thought when it got that cold out you drained the oil and heated it over a fire before starting

At Cummins they say it sticks real good, but I need to see it with my own eyes.

Thanks Carl, gonna pick one up. Would really like an Espar but cannot afford one this year. Those southern guys don't understand how nice it is up here in the winter. No bugs on the windshield or bumper. No RV's to dodge around & the fishing is always better when you can get on their roof & drop a hook through the hole. AND NO MUD

I've heard these types of heaters work great, and will stay on the pan provided you clean the pan REALLY good.

Oil pan heater

Great to see a post from another Winnipeger... ... ..... I have one that is magnetic. The magnet works great and hasn't fallen off on any vehicle I've used them on.

I was wondering if any of you guys in the Great White North ever put a dipstick heater into the auto transmission fill tube? Would it make any more difference than idling in neutral for a few minutes... eh?
