I'm calling on our Hoosier state TDR buddies to possibly help out an acquaintance in Wadesville. He needs to get an automatic transmission problem taken care of on his '96 QC 4x4 & to maybe BOMB it. This guy delivers camper trailers all over the place and has close to 500,000 miles on his truck already! He is out on the road a lot so is hard to get a hold of, but his wife told me about the transmission. They don't know about TDR, but his wife has a computer at work and she is going to log on Monday and check it out
She said he is considering swapping out for an Allison. I recommended he save his $$ and BOMB his transmission instead.
Who can tell me of the closest place to SW Indiana that can BOMB an auto? What about Enterprise Engine?? This guy is on the road a lot and can't take his truck out of service for very long.
I got acquainted with these folks a couple years ago when I found out he owned a '91 Dodge Cummins with over 1 million miles on it. He finally sold it with over 1. 2 million miles but was still running strong. Even at that mileage he was still trekking cross country towing camper trailers!! He finally upgraded to the '96, and sold the '91 to a salvage yard in Evansville because they wanted the engine to put in a forklift
. But thank goodness a farmer in Kentucky saw it and bought it and saved it from the crusher. He thought it was way too nice of a truck to destroy. He is still driving it and uses it to haul his horses around. I am in the process of getting in touch with him to see how the old truck is doing.
