$800 water pump?!?!?

D-Max jealousy?

I found the article in the latest TDR about the 1 million mile plus Cummins/Dodge very interesting. When I picked up a new trailer at Featherlite a few weeks ago, I asked my contact about their Dodge fleet. His comment was that they owned between 20 and 30 Dodge/Cummins. They routinely run them from 450-650,000 miles, and then expect $8500 from them when they trade. They tried 3 Fords, had engine trouble starting at 100,000 miles, dealer wouldn't stand behind them so, "We got rid of them. " According to him, their biggest problem is transmissions and clutches, but Dodge has stood behind the transmissions for them. (Does DC think of them as a test bed???) His comments didn't seem out of line after reading the article in TDR.

So he gets $8500 for then with 500k on them that would be nice. I am on track for 200k in another 4 years, just when its paid off.

well by that time...

Well Sky it sounds like that should be about the time Dodge gets 4 REAL size doors, and a better auto transmission, so that will be perfect timeing for your new truck.

I will be at 250,000 miles or better if I keep my driving schedule the same before I can get another truck. Wifey gets to get a new ride after truck is paid for then I get a new one when hers is paid for. That's the way it is when you have to work vehicle payments and house payments into the budget.

Ray, I know a guy in Indiana that sold his '91 Dodge Cummins with almost 1. 3 million miles. He hauled Dutchman campers all over the US right up until he sold it. A farmer in Kentucky bought it about a year ago to haul is horses with. The farmer thought it was a nice truck and was wondering why the guy wanted to sell it  Until he found out the mileage. He bought it anyway.

This guy's current '96 truck is closing in on 500,000 miles.
