Boxes
KBalzuweit & BHolm,
Van Aaken has a 3. 1 box, which, as I understand is strictly a preasure box. Their 3. 2 is a duration, only, box with some boost fooling. If you can wait 1 or 2 months, they are supposed to have a 3. 3 which will be duration, timing with a small amount of preasure. Sounds like it will be similar to the Edge Juice/Attitude used in the 3rd Gen. 305/555, '03-'04's. The 3. 2 is in-cab adjustable having a zero, 130 HP & something in between, 65-70 HP, probably.
I've read, any number of times, that some people are a little afraid of the preasure, only boxes. Especially, the high preasure boxes that can do some damage to the HPCR and errode the injectors.
There is a pretty good article in Issue 48, of the TDR, by Doug Leno & Joe Donnelly regarding boxes & the parameters you should stay within so as not to harm your fuel delivery system.
If you get a box with timing programmed into it, you should not need to do the Rocktek or Tone Ring Mod's, as I understand.
If you don't have guages, yet, The Edge Juice/Attitude should provide you with duration & timing on the new trucks plus the Attitude gives you the guages with a lot of control over the box.
Since I already have guages, I'm going to wait to see what the new Van Aaken C-3. 3 looks like.
Doing it right, the first-time, isn't so easy. Lots of choices out there.
