I tried them on my '96 and ended up returning them. They wouldn't seat/clamp properly and I wasn't going to trust them hold my motorcyles. I ended up using ANCRA tie down mounts mounted on the inside wall of the stake pockets.
I ended up buying a product called Bull Rings. There is a large aluminum block that mounts insided the stake pockets and on top, a stainless pop up D ring. They are very nice and I use them for tie downs and ratcheting straps all the time. I rate them highly. They are, however, fairly pricy at around 39 - 45$ a pair.
I have the Lock n Slide system by Hi-lift. It is a extruded rail bolted to the inside of the bed rail. It has spring loaded eyes that slide back and forth locking where needed. It works great and you can place the eyes where they are needed. One drawback is it is pricey.
I actually bought a set of 6 Bull Rings for my '00 but they don't fit up well with the plastic bec caps I have. Otherwise they appeared to be very stout and fit the stake pocket very well. I returned the Bull Rings because I was more interested in keeping the bed rail caps. I think I paid ~$30/pair for the Bull rings I'll have to look up the vendor name.
I mounted the ANCRA tie down mounts on my '00 in the end.
I bought the OEM flush mount SS style that Dodges sells. When I inquired, I was quoted one price, when they arrived the parts guy found out they were a whole lot more expensive than he quoted me. Wound up buying six (3 pair) @ his cost for about $60 tax incl. They were supposed to be $30 a pair.
Thumbs to the 5-Star up this time anyway! And they fit nicely with the Rhino Bedrails, and have held up extremely well after 6 years of abuse.
I've got them on my truck. They're adequate for holding one or two hundred pounds, but not more. They certainly wouldn't hold my motorbike, and I wouldn't expect them to; I always use the built-in tie-downs for that purpose. I've had only one pop out on me, but I was using a ratchet strap at the time and simply cranked it down entirely too tight.
Mostly, they're convenient for tying down tarps to cover loose loads.
One drawback to them is they are always clinking against the stake pockets. Tink. Tink. Tink-tink.
