Karl,

If high capacity mags don't exist then there is much less worry about criminals obtaining them.

Gee would it be too crass to add a amendment to this and point out all of the children it would save to uninvent the wheel and all of the technology it spawned?

Come to think of it, do we really have Freedom of speech?

Seeems to me if you say something someone does not like, you have to apologize, or edit it out.

Step back and take a CLOSE look at whats going on.

back to the topic

The original post on this was about hiding your guns. I thought I'd get back to that for a bit.

I'm very suspicious of registration. England, Australia, Germany, and other countries have used those lists for confiscation. I believe that there are many people in this contry that want a complete ban on guns. Some of these people are in government. There are already examples of gun registration in this contry that was used later when the states came around the confiscate those weapons (CA and NY). Washington DC has had a complete ban on handguns for a while now. Is there anything that will prevent them from passing a law banning all guns? There doesn't appear to be. If they can't do it all at once, they will do it piece by piece. It seems that most people won't do anything because it doesn't apply to them (some people here excepted :) ). This is why I will support freedom every time. It may not apply to me yet, but I'm sure they'll get around to me sometime. (I'm keeping my guns though. )

It also seems that some of those who say they are pro freedom (2nd ammendment, etc) will actually not be. Here's an excerpt from the following link:

Reed was an anti-gun C-rated Republican HCI member who had been mayor of Santa Monica (a city notorious for its control by the Tom Hayden / Jane Fonda crowd).

https://www.keepandbeararms.com/information/XcIBViewItem.asp?ID=713 How is it that the NRA will rate a known HCI member as a "C. " If I remember correctly from high school, a "C" is what was considered average, and was passing. What is the difference between someone who wants to completely remove your rights and someone who will compromise your rights so that you can keep them just a little bit longer? Both will get you the same result, the only difference I see is how long it takes to get there. We need to hold both sides accountable.

Just Look at Washington DC, strickes Gun law in the US, You can't own a gun, and live inside DC. This has not stop crime there.

Just tell the bad guy, chances are there no gun in that house, so when he come in to rob you, if you do shoot at him, now you have broke the law. So who the bad guy now?

GOD, GUTS, and GUNS made my Country the Greatest Nation on Earth. My LIBERTY and Yours has been paid for by our Armed Forces, and the NRA continues the battle for FREEDOM.

Power Wagen, Gary, MGM and others with like minded views and thinking sum it up for me. I am a law abiding citizen and if I want a Missouri class Battle Ship to cruise around in, well it is my choice.

9 - 16 inch guns and 20 - 5inch 54's what a Power Wagen.

A number of years ago, on memorial day, during daylight hours, we were robbed. According to the neighbors, who saw this quick succession of events, described seeing three men pull up in front of my house, open the hood of their car, go to my front door and inside. They came out rapidly carrying a nunber of our belongings, jump into their car and sped away. They originally thaught, they had car trouble and were seeking assistance. When they saw them run from the house, they then relized that we were being robbed. They also described them carrying what may very well have been a shotgun or rifle wrapped in a sheet upon entering the house.

The door in the front had been open and the screen door unlatched, as my wife, who had been working in the garden came in to go to the bathroom in the basement. Fortunately she didn't see the robbers.

Fear or respect?

Had a real good freind of mine who bought a home in a lower eastside area. His neighbors were of the opinion that he being the new white guy in the neighborhood was "easy pickins" and took to harrassing him on a regular basis. You know the routine"hey Gringo, you can't park there"or "Go back to the suburbs Patty boy",etc, ect.

Well one day in a seedy bar in another city a man came up to he and I and said he had a gun for sale. We went out to look at it and I saw it was a thompson replica"with full auto still working"!

My freind really wanted it and after several warnings from me,he still bought it. We left the bar very quietly looking over our shoulders the whole way home.....

He didn't know the first thing about this weapon and I had to take him out and show him the basics, and of course how to tear it down, clean it,and so on. About a month later he was having a party at his house and his neighbors were in a paticulary abusive way earlier that day. He asked me what he should do and I proceeded to his gun locker and got his Thompson out,put a clip in it and stepped out on the back porch. Took aim at the sky and sprayed about 15-20 rounds. He was in a panic as I pulled the clip and cleared the weapon!I returned it to the locker after cleaning it. Nothing happened,no cops, nothing!

Except the next day he was adressed as "Mister Smith" by all his neighbors!

Now before I get flamed, you all have to realize that I was a young man, still a little crazy from a stint in the service and pretty intoxicated at the time. Also used to carrying a weapon 24/7.  It was kind of funny to see how quiet the party got after the burst... ... :D Used to do that at all our partys in country?

I could have bought two MP-40's. It was from two different people, on two seperate occasions.

You know the story "Dad brought it home from WW2, picked it up off a dead nazi. "

I entertained the thought, but passed on both. I figured, I'm probibally on some Govt "wacko" list just from the stuff I get in the mail.

I dont want to have a suprise kevlar party @ 2am... EVER!!

Hey, Freddbull, So what happened did they get your guns, or did you catch them and tie em up with some Eagle Scout Knots, til the Law got there. You kinda left us hanging, like your Robbers should be.

They were never caught. The police said, "even if they did catch them, I couldn't have proven that they were my things. They had no personal markings and I didn't have serial #"s:rolleyes:

There were no fire arms to be stolen, as I didn't own any at the time (an interesting thought) I grew up with fire arms around me and had availibility to a farm with 189 acers, abutting public land. Many targets met their fate there. (I wasn't much into hunting) It never occured to me to own any.

I was forced to reasses my position. I had worked in an emergency compacity, around the clock hours, my wife was home alone and we had no curious little children.

Sorry! not really good at this. I keep pushing the wrong buttons with my two (too) slow fingers (oops! one is my trigger finger, Hmmm)

Enough said!
