Does anybody know how to put these straps back behind the seat or just plain take them off? I have tried to push them back down in their slot but they don't seem to want to go. The middle also interferes with the operation of the sliding back glass. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also, is there a way to be able to move the back seat? Thanks

When you lift the rear seat you'll see four bolts, two per side. When you remove those the seat comes out. Then the straps can be removed. The straps are held in by torx bolts, sorry, I forgot the size.

Oh yeah, the rear seat can be a bit of a bear to reinstall. It took some fiddling with the lift mechanism to get everything lined up again, but it can be done.

Although it was a pain in the butt, i just tucked mine down behind the seat. I used a screwdriver to wedge them back there.

I clip my laptop bag to the strap to keep it from hitting me in head when I dodge the coffee drinkers on the freeway.

I have one of these trucks and never even saw these straps!

We even used to have a car seat in there. Is there info on this in the manual? I must have skipped that section? Anyway I will have to see if my 98. 5 has them or not.

There was a recent addition made to the owners manual (2001 anyway) I received in the mail that gave info on the purpose of the straps. Big yellow Owners Manual Addendup with pictures and info on child restraint section in the owner's manual.
