2 months with the PDR Twins! Awesome!

WHY did you install a HEOF? (longer oil change intervals?, less cost of maintaining oil?, because you wanted to?, you feel better about your lubrication with it?, what ever other reason you have)

Which brand and which size of HEOF did you purchase?(Oil Guard, RACOR, Fleetguard, Puradyn, ... )

How do you manage your HEOF:

Do you tow heavy?

What kind (dino / synthetic) of oil do you use?

How long have you used it?(miles or months)

How often do you change the oil?(miles or months)

What is your oil change cost?

How often do you sample the oil?(miles or months)

What is your oil sample cost?

How often do you change your high flow filter?(miles or months)

What is your high flow filter and what is it's cost?(brand, $)

How often do you change your HEOF filter?(miles or months)

What is your HEOF and what is it's cost?(brand, $)

Would you do it again knowing what you know now?, why?

I am considering an HEOF. I'm trying to gather data for the decision, thanks.

WHY did you install a HEOF? (longer oil change intervals?, less cost of maintaining oil?, because you wanted to?, you feel better about your lubrication with it?, what ever other reason you have)

I did it for a couple reasons: longer drain interval, felt better about the lubrication. I drive about 30k a year and didnt want to be changing the oil 10 times a year.

Which brand and which size of HEOF did you purchase?(Oil Guard, RACOR, Fleetguard, Puradyn, ... )

I went with the amsoil dual bypass system with ss lines auroquip fittings and member cpff's billet adapter block.

How do you manage your HEOF:

I run 15-40 in the warm months and 5-30 in the cold months. Change my oil twice a year at about 15k per change. I change my high flow filter every 5k and add make up oil and change the bypass and full flow filter every 10 or at an oil change. I also run synthetic oil.

Do you tow heavy?

I tow heavy occasionally, most miles are loaded light or a small trailer 4k or so.

What kind (dino / synthetic) of oil do you use?

I use amsoil 15-40 in the warm months and their 5w-30 in the cold months.

How long have you used it?(miles or months)

It has been on for 140k with zero problems.

How often do you change the oil?(miles or months)

I change my oil twice a year. Works out to be right about 15k miles per change.

What is your oil change cost?

Amsoil is certainly not the cheapest but get dealer pricing on it, that helps. I cant remember off the top of my head but I think the 15-40 is $4/qt and 5-30 is more like $5/qt

How often do you sample the oil?(miles or months)

I did sample about every 5k it always came back great I have actaully quit sampling.

What is your oil sample cost?

When I was it was like 14. 00, I bought them in bulk packs

How often do you change your high flow filter?(miles or months)

I change my high flow filter and add make up oil every 5k.

What is your high flow filter and what is it's cost?(brand, $)

I use the amsoil sdf26 and it is about 13$

How often do you change your HEOF filter?(miles or months)

I change the amsoil BE-100 bypass filter every other so every 10k and it is about 20$

What is your HEOF and what is it's cost?(brand, $)

Amosil dual remote system. 200. 00 ish ( or at least was) then I decided to go with ss lines and cpff's billet adapter block. I dont recall the ss line cost but it was not cheap.

Would you do it again knowing what you know now?, why?

Yes I think I would. I may however look very hard at the frantz system. Do a search for Gary K??? now I cant remember his handle but I suspect he will chime in hear with his vast knowledge, opinion and testing with the frantz system. I do it to cut down on my oil changes mainly but really like the superior filtration of a bypass type setup. Others may not agree and say it is not really needed but to each his own. The same could be said for choice of using a syn oil.

Bob, I know you have probably seen some of my Frantz bypass oil filter threads - but for guys who haven't, here's MY reasons and results:

#1.

Yes, there IS oil on that dipstick - pic was taken with somewhere around 5000 miles on the oil.

A typical oil analysis using a Frantz bypass oil filter...

AND, on my '02 truck, at 42,000 miles on the truck, and *20,000 miles* on the oil, the latest Cat oil analysis:

Iron = 3

Lead = 1

Copper = 1

Chrome = 1

Aluminum = 1

Silicon = 1

Tin - 1

Nickel = 1

All above in PPM, and will be getting a comparison result from Blackstone any day now, since I pulled 2 samples at the same time for verification of results - and BOTH results will soon posted over in my "Anatomy of extended oil drains" thread...

Normally, I change oil at 5,000-7,000 miles, depending on percentage of towing done - and I use Chevron Delo 400 15/40. The TP element in the Frantz gets changed at about 2000 miles, and a quart of fresh oil added to make up for what is absorbed by the new filter. TBN and TAN are staying at new oil levels during this extended oil drain test - and those analysis up above are sure nothing to be ashamed of! ;)
