I installed new 1. 5 injectors last week. After a few test runs I noticed I cant get over 25-26lbs of boost resulting in high exhaust temp. Under full throttle I have to back off due to the exhaust temp. being 1300 degrees and the boost around 25. Thats with the TTPM on setting 2. I thought I should be seeing about 30-32lbs.

I pressurized the system only to find a couple small leaks which are now fixed.

I also tried pinching the waste gate rubber line and that made the boost to 28lbs sometimes.

Any ideas?

Thank you

With the TTPM alone you should be able to get 26-28 psi. Did you disable the wastegate per the instructions for the TTPM (elbow or turnbuckle)?

I know my turbo is a bit different, but with my EZ and EDM 2's on my HO, I can barely touch 1,250 (pre) standing on it in 6th.

yes, i used the elbow supplied with the ttpm.

also i was wondering if i could test the waste gate using compressed air regulated to a certain psi.

i am thinking maybe it is dumping out to soon. is this something i would hear?

Try adjusting the wastegate. I had to remove the turbo to do it the first time. The adjustment is "staked"-there's a dimple in the female part that slightly deforms the threaded mating surfaces-use a jam nut if you're worried about it moving.

Use a vice and ingenuity to break it loose. Then crank it one way or the other. I forget which does what. More boost I say!

I think you may jhave the hy35 turbo with 9 cm2 housing. Like others have suggested, that may be the explination. I have the hy35 with 10 cm2 housing on my '01 with mach 1. 5's & an EZ. I find it hard to get to 1,100* but because I have more power than my stock clutch can handle I don't use wot. The boost will easily go to 32 but I have to back off the throttle & keep it around 26-28 psi or the clutch stars slipping.

2000 uses hx35/12.

BBotte, did your TTPM come with a boost elbow? If not get one and install it. If you need one I think I have one I can send you.

Whats your elevation?

It could be something as simple as an elbow with the wrong size hole in it. Anyone nearby that you could borrow one from to try? Maybe give Edge a call and see if they'll send you another one?

Maybe try putting the stock elbow back in and seeing what psi's you get. I think they should be about 20 or so. If you get the full 20 psi then I'd guess that the wastegate is functioning properly and the elbow is not calibrated correctly. If the wastegate has issues, you'll see mid to upper teens for boost.

thanks for the ideas, i'm going to give them a try when i can sneak away from work. i'll let you know how i make out.

thanks alot

If he pinched the hose shut, then the elbow was taken completely out of play.

If the boost leaks are fixed.

Push the dang thing to 2700 (defueling-the temp will drop) and see where the temp goes to. You ain't going to kill it the first time you pass the 1300 mark. ;) trust me--unless you hold it there for two minutes, then it could be ugly.

Maybe your boost guage reads low and your EGT reads high.

Not much elevation in MA?
