Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) High EGT's in a stock truck?

I was involved in a conversation between two other CTD owners. One tells the other that he needs to be concerned with his EGT's while towing. Mind you, he has a totally stock rig. I gave my two cents and began to disagree. I figure if that was a concern, Dodge would put a pyro in the trucks from the factory. I further explained that the governor is going to begin to defuel at around 2100 - 2200 rpm.



Am I even close in this argument, or am I out in left field and should keep my mouth shut?

When my truck was stock I could get to 1300 pulling a long pass. I did this once at Raton Pass. As soon as the SPA showed 1275 it started to defuel and it ran like a dog for the next hour. I am guessing but rpm would not cause defueling till you got close to red lining the engine.
