Competition 1/8th mile times and questions

Found something out today. I turned my boost down for the wastegate to open at about 50psi and EGTs were hotter than when I was running the wastegate set at 70psi. I figured it would be the opposite, less boost=less EGTs. EGTs still didn't get past 1400 but they got their 1350 faster with less boost. I guess I'm still learning.

Nathan, I don't think it is related to boost entirely. I had the same rear freeze plug pop out getting onto the highway, never exceeding 40psi. Motor has 50K on it. Dumped it on the road in the clutch and coated the underside.

Fred,

I dont think so either. I have heard from quite a few people now that have blown freeze plugs in 3rd gens. One guy has blown the same one 3 times. I really doubt mine will blow again out the back though as I used some bearing retainer on it. I figured with 4 others it shouldn't be a problem and the other 4 are a lot easier to get to.
