I got to tow my wheelin rig (1 ton Dakota truggy weighing 4,760lbs) a week ago on a single car hauler weighing 1,200 lbs. The truck is an '01. 5 HO 4x4 on 35's with 3. 55 gears. Mods are an Edge Comp, BHAF, 4" exhaust into 6" stacks, and a FASS fuel system. I was running the Edge on 2x2 and the EGT's stayed around 900* at 65-70 mph on a 40* day.
Tonight I took my dual car hauler to the scale, GCVW of 20,000 lbs towing with the 35's on 1x1. I didn't really get to cruise down the highway for a period of time (60 mph), but I would guess they would have ran between 1000-1100*. It was steady at 1150 still lightly accelerating in 6th around 55mph, then i had to turn off. The outdoor temp was 50*.
I'm pretty new to diesels, but from what i've been told this is alittle high even with 35's? Could there be something wrong with the truck? It seems to build boost fine. What is everyone running for EGT's towing?
