Just wondering if anybody knows the EGT degree that can hurt the engine. I know staying above 1350 degrees for more than 10 to 20 seconds isn't good, but I have saw 1780 degrees for probably no longer than two or three seconds. Can that EGT hurt the engine even if seen only a few seconds?

No is what I been told, you have too sustain that temp long enough for the piston to fully absorb the heat to start expanding in the cylinder, just a few seconds isn't long enough for any metal to expand, extend that time and it starts expanding, I've been told no longer than 10-12 sec. on 1500 degrees, 1789 seeems alittle hot for me, I dont believe I would try that to much without adding a bigger turbo just my . 02 there good luck

It's not just the psitons. Hold the EGT's long enough and you will toast the turbo. At that temperature the blades lose strength and "creep".

I agree that 2-3 seconds probably isn't a problem, but I would'nt do it on purpose. These engines are too darned expensive to fix if you smoke one.

Hey Matt,

I working on it. Don't have a scanner but got some pics taken when I had the transmission put in. Hopefully will get those pics up soon.
