What's in the water in Finland?! These guys are my kind of 'crazy'! :cool:

http://www.teamrwd.com/dieselboost/300_24.php - just your average, run of the mill 425hp (24-valve, I-6) diesel powered Mercedes sedan. :eek: Notice the use of a Holset turbo...

http://www.teamrwd.com/dieselboost/250.php - another high horsepower diesel powered Mercedes sedan.

Right-click this link and 'Save Target As... ' to watch a cool video of the cars racing around and decorating the pavement with fresh rubbah!

Makes me almost wish I didnt sell the old 190 D. :-laf

With how slow it was, it would still run circles around Dad's 240D.

Wonder where I can find one of those little engines? I'd love to drop that in our dakota. am I readind the dyno graph right? a touch OVER 400hp? Schweet.

Mercedes Benz is one of the few auto companies to offer a Diesel car in the US. This would be the E320cdi. It's a 3. 2 liter strait 6 common-rail direct injection diesel with a small turbo. In 2006 MB will drop this motor for a more powerful 3. 0 liter V6 Turbo Diesel for the E Class only. I would love to test drive one of those!!!!

Here's a pic of the all new MB 3. 0 liter V6 cdi engine. It makes 224Hp and 376lb-ft. at 1,600rpm's. It will be available in the 2006 E320 cdi.

In one of the top links, they have the "GALL" to run a non "AFE" air filter on their motor. And it is directly clamped on to the Turbo housing! Man, where is the "AFE" cult when you need them!!!!

finally got around to watching the video... wow... they don't even sound like diesels there. . they are screaming... i like the black one myself... :D:D:D

sisu engineering at it's finest ;)

Their was a guy with a new AMG at the track friday night and he was puttin a hurtin on a bunch of Mustangs and 300ZX's!The thing was in the 12. 50-12. 70 all night!

that new v6 looks too overcomplicated. I sure love the old 5cyl turbo mechanical diesel in those 300td wagons. what a sweet car that is;

My mother and I test drove a new E320 diesel a few months ago and it is impressive! I would MUCH rather have the 3. 2 liter inline engine than that complicated V-6 for reasons of durability, simplicity and torque, just like my preference for the inline Cummins over the V-8 "competitors". The 3. 2 Mercedes engine we test drove was quiet, had no smoke or smell and had excellent power and acceleration. My mother is a diesel fan anyway, being a former owner of a 1987 300SDL (I-6-cylinder, 3 liter turbodiesel). When she went to get another car, no diesel was available. :confused: She took my suggestion of getting a rear wheel drive, inline 6 powered car and got a BMW 325I. With the new Mercedes diesel available, she is considering trading her 2000 BMW for the diesel Mercedes. I need to encourage her to do so while the correctly-arranged configuration is still available! :D

Tell her the in-line 6 in the current E320 cdi will be fazed out end of this year. Not sure why MB went from a strait 6 to a V6 diesel?? Ofcourse they claim the new motor will be more efficient and have more power and torque.
